Welsh hot on our heels. Should make for a pretty full-blooded encounter next week.

And there's one of the problems with the play-offs in a nutshell. The team that finished 4 places and 14 pts behind us is now suddenly 1pt behind. They've beaten us on aggregate over teh season dont forget.

GL.

Can't disagree with you there but this is the system that we are faced with so we just have to go out and beat them on Sunday and again at ODP in a few weeks time.

As an aside there is a bit in the Rugby Paper today about Nottingham fulfilling the Premiership Criteria. They clearly have ambitions to go up and may well be dark horses in our group despite finishing 5th!

The system certainly drives some odd but understandable behaviour but thankfully it looks like 5th will not allow any club the opportunity to go up from next season (See thread on Champ Re-org)

Can the Bedford points be correct? I thought they carried only 2 points forward in to the group stage.

Points for Bedford are correct. Top 2 from phase 1 both carry a quite huge(Sm161) 3 points into the group stage!

3rd and 4th get 2, and 5th and 6th get 1.

Blues posted a bonus point win yesterday making their total 8 points.

Hope that clears it up for you.

This only emphasises the ludicrous nature of the current 'system' in my opinion

Statbunker tables are not correct. They do not include the points brought forward from the regular season. Show's Welsh and us on 5 points.

I hope the players put any thoughts about the system being wrong to the back of their minds until the play-offs are over. There's nothing more likely to cause you to mess up in the play-offs than a chip on your shoulder about it being not fair that you topped the regular league season.

I suggest that if we talk to any players we also leave such thoughts to one side.

I'd agree with that.

Wasn't Middleton part of the set up back in 09/10?

If not we have a few older & wiser heads that would keep all the new guys heads in check when it comes to that.

Every time I see these stats I marvel at the money that is being pumped into London Welsh.

Lovely club though it is, great food, hospitality and beer, those attendance figures are skewed by the Bristol visits.

On the odd occasion when I have been there when Bristol haven't been playing then it's like a scene from a dustbowl western.

They say they have serious plans to break into the premiership. Who knows where they are going to get the supporters from, given how close Quins are to them.

Someone has deep pockets anyway.

If my maths is right, a win next week would guarantee us a SF place.

The earlier we qualify the better.

Correct Bristolblue, even if nottingham lose and get 2 points.

I assume (mother of all **** ups I know) winner of group A play runnerup of group B and winner of B play runner up of A.
