I am guessing they couldn't guarantee any cash beyond next season, if that is the case Worcester may have a problem next season if relegated.

Yesterday's rugby paper also tipping Holley or Robinson to take over at Cardiff. Either one of them would be excellent for Wuss though - lots of experience of managing a championship side

At least he hasn't done a runner mid-season unlike their previous coach.

Here is a direct quote by Gold in today's Guardian. Can someone enlighten me as to what this means?

“From a leadership point of view I have to divorce myself from the results and I have to look at performances.

I think he means using blue sky thinking to reach out to his team and help grasp the low hanging fruit!

Good God! If things couldn't get any worse at Cardiff...

Indeed. Day 1 "Now who's the defence coach? Right, well you can go home early, we won't be needing you"

Worcester have the feel of us last season.

Without the massive amount of money in the bank to cushion the blow.

So last year, when Bristol let go of Robinson and decided to take a long term view and go for Pat Lam, there was lots of speculation about taking other coaches, Gold included. Wus then picked up Gold, who worked wonders and kept them up. I expect a lot of Bris supporters questioned that decision. Now it looks as if Bristol took the right one!

Well, perhaps, but if GG had been the target and not PL I suspect this issue wouldn't have arisen. I am sure he wants to coach internationally but let's be honest given everything that's going on there at the moment I suspect that this is more about getting away from Worcester than it is working in the US.

Can't help but feel for the fans. Having a team who have lost every game so far, a club up for sale and a head coach (and a pretty damn good one) leave can't be easy. The vast majority have always struck me as being a good bunch.

Hang on.

When Gold came last season he said it would be until the end of the season. He then committed to this season but it was almsot certainly always going to end after.

As for us going down - we have lost 5/5. 4 of those have been against Wasps, Saracens, Exeter and Newcastle. The only game we would expect to win out of those is possibly Gloucester away, which we got a point out of. We now have Hougaard back and have just signed a Australian fly-half. Irish look equally as poor and it seems as though they got lucky and caught Quins cold on the opening weekend.

Although it hasn't been a good start we, I think, will still survive. We have 17 games remaining of which all of the home games are winnable.

Gloucester look equally poor as well WorcesterSauce. I think this could be a three way race for the drop and based on what I have seen so far I would say Irish look the unlucky ones.

I truly feel for Worcester here, and not because the majority of my friends support them. They have an amazing fan base, who in my opinion deserve to be in the Premiership. I can see the comparisons between us and Warriors, sadly they need to fight every game like it's it's their last. However those hard drinking rugby loving Warrior lunatic fans might just swing it for the team. I still think they can turn this season into a positive.

Feel for them at the moment. As for who’s for the drop well it’s early days but think Sale will be ok. So in the mix has to be Worcester, Gloucester and Irish Gloucester will probably survive due to experience, Irish are a settled side and could with a couple of results pull it off so that leaves Worcester with no cash, up for sale and a departing coach? Mm not looking good is it??

Bristol, like the glass is Blue, Bristol Blue.

I agree. I can’t see past Worcester for the drop at this stage, but as we found out last year it is a long season and things can change very quickly so nothing is set.

I’m sure Worcester fans would agree that their team playing the way they were at at the end of last season would smash their current side which is low on confidence, but that could well change with the return of Hougaard - they have a decent side so once confidence picks up then it’s all up in the air. Only one win off Irish
