Alex Cuthbert leaving Cardiff

I have not in any way heard anything to suggest he may be coming here but I can imagine that, from his point of view, Bristol might be a good destination. Personally I would hope we could find a better winger and Defender, unless he can get back to the form he showed for the Lions in Australia and for Wales before that.

Cuthbert is hated in Wales, oh God I hope it isn't true!

Cuthbert is hated in Wales, but for no good reason. Lacks natural footballing brain, but is athletic, and has a great work-rate.

He has deficiencies in his game, granted, but so too does a certain Mr Varndell, and he has been a valuable addition.

Speaking to a Welsh Colleague and Cardiff fan he has already booked Cuthbert's taxi. He also extends the hand of friendship and thanks for letting Cardiff have Olly Robinson.

Potentially I would say Cuthbert not as fast but offers more all round game than Vandell who needs to be put in space to do his thing. Whilst lacking the top class rugby instincts I think he is more natural that TV. He a bit like a better version of Lee Robinson. When on form he is very good and is young enough to still improve, but like Lee will always have the potential for a mistake. Not sure either of them really fit into Pat's style.

Got to say I rate TV above Cuthbert. Tom's extra speed gets him tries Cuthbert can't make + gets him into position to make tackles Cuthbert can't make. Cuthbert often seems to make the wrong decision when he has the options of passing (& then when to pass is a problem to him) or going by himself. A lot of that last bit may well be down to confidence and fear of making the wrong decision BUT nothing to say that will definitely change when he moves clubs.

As I said at start of thread, I have not in any way heard anything to suggest he may be coming here - but I'd be surprised if his agent has not been on touch with us. I agree he doesn't seem to fit what PL wants and I hope we are in discussions on better options.

I know we'll end up discussing every free agent and whether they'd fit with us, but this one is a non-starter

IF he still has aspirations to play for Wales he can't come to Bristol (or any Union side not in Wales).

I haven’t seen enough of him to comment. Just that if you follow PL’s model then the priority would seem to be at 1,2,4,5,9.

Unless he has accumulated enough caps already?

Is he better than what we currently have? Will he improve the team? If not then the answer has to be a no from me.

Bristol, like the glass is Blue, Bristol Blue.
