I agree - real shame as a good player and a natural leader. Has been completely professional following his Dads departure but completely sympathise if his heart isn’t with the club

Many of us were tipping Robinson to be captain. Sadly I think he's off though

You may well be right but there is a big part of me that thinks that all that has happened here is that Danny Wilson, being a big fan of Ollie, contacted Bristol to say he was desperate for back row cover and would they be happy for Ollie to go over. Then as we were ok for back road cover and Ollie was not guaranteed first Choice the decision of Bristol management was that it would be better for Ollie's development if he went and played over with Cardiff before coming back to us and bringing with him the confidence and any new ideas he could bring back.

And of course I'm sure the deal is that we can bring him back at any point so the risk for us was almost zero.

I see no reason to suppose that Olly Robinson is not happy at the club, or that he is off elsewhere. It's a short term loan; we have a large squad and are strong in the back row at present; he's getting invaluable experience.

Has the A league hiatus got anything to do with players going out on loan. Surely better for them getting game time at a higher level staying sharp than just training.

Good points Paulie and gran! Yes think I'll record the Cardiff v Dragons match tonight for a wee bit of watching/fast forwarding through in the morning when everyone else in the house is still asleep. I think it'll be a good game and nice Bris interest. Gav had been doing great judging by Scrum V (BBC2 Wales Sundays) highs and comments. Great to see!

Olly was OK last week, but not outstanding. When all are fit he will need to up his game to get in the first choice Cardiff back row.

Palamo was a replacement last week and was replaced injured so not sure he will be available this week, although he was not playing that well.

Yes Cardiff have Sam W and Ellis Jenkins (who is very good) as the main 7s; and the also very good Josh Navidi if he's not playing 6. So good as Ollie is he's not good enough to get past them IMO. Of course Sam doesn't pay much for Cardiff unfortunately.

Wales is awash with excellent Flankers, which is partly why a fair few are playing in England. Must be a Flanker Factory somewhere as well.

Rich, is the transmission from BBC Wales or some other medium? Appreciate your advice since I would also like to watch it, but I am not in the UK with free off air access.

It should be interesting and from Ollys point of view, I think he has a golden opportunity to stamp his credentials on a new and different stage; he came on a lot in the Prem last year under Wilson, who must rate him, but we need him back in December. We must retain guys that show year on year improvement and that is what Olly has done since arriving from Moseley in 2014
It will also be good to watch Gav. I was at Twicks to watch tHe cynical late tackle by Marler and as far as I am concerned that cost us a lot of momentum and points in the prem last year

Hi gran. It's on BBC2 Wales but will also be online on BBC rugby union (normally it highlights it at the top just before game starts and white it's on, but if not click on the Wales rugby bit or live action bit). Enjoy!
