The Party poopers are on their way.

Just been looking at the league table and thinking to myself Cornish Pirates stats donít look at all bad suggesting that bar a final result or two they should be much higher in the table. Points for and against alone would have them up to 3rd / 4th and we all know those Pirates love nothing more than sinking the mighty Bristol. Shaping up for a good game against dangerous opponents I think.

My glass is again full now bring on the rugby.

Olly, I donít think CP have ever Ďsunkí Bristol at home and I donít think it is going to happen this season either. Theyíre always a different proposition at the Mennaye though!

True and I donít think they will beat us this time either Iím just thinking their position in the league should be higher given their points for and against. I think they will be tough opponents and should provide a stern test and canít be underestimated. Iím Really looking forward to it.

Agreed about the stern test Olly.

So far we have passed all the stern tests Ė I believe that 50% of our away fixtures are such and the home match against Ealing. I think PL has instilled a good attitude in the squad and no game is taken lightly Ė even the home fixture v Roth.

Pirates got off to a bit of a shaky start. I think their recent form is more indicative of their overall standard. Shouldn't get close to us at home though.

I agree with Gray and with all due respect to the Pirates we should with the way we are going have no problems at home under the lights for this game .
I hope and expect our " stars " will be rested for the cup games so we should injury permitting be able to field the best available squad which must be the policy in the league til promotion is guaranteed .
Our Pat should by now know who his favoured 22 are and these should feature in the league from now on even if we know or suspect they will be off at the end of the season such as Rhodri who is far and away our best No9 and who I have no doubt will always give his best for our cause .

I have a vague memory that Pirates shocked us at home the season we went up under Hilly? According to Wiki it was
12 February 2005
Bristol Shoguns 11-18 Penzance & Newlyn
Report
Memorial Stadium
Attendance: 5,424
Referee: Mark Wilson

But with the investment on and off the field this season that should not happen again.

Looking forward to this game to round off a big week at AG and act as the opening salvo of an enjoyable Christmas period. They do like a bonus point mind so it could be a close one!

Must have time to waste. Iíve been looking up Cornishís stats.
Won 5 lost 6
Attack, Points for 338 only bettered br Brs and Ealing.
Defence, Points against 294 bettered by Brs, Ealing, Bedford & Hartpury.
4 try bonus points.
6 Losing bonus points which suggests to me that each game lost has been close.
Shaping up for a cracking game in my opinion and a good crowd expected to boot. Really looking forward to it. Bring it on .

offy says 8000 plus tickets sold so far so with the usual proviso that that includes season ticket holders regardless of whether the there or not it should be a good turnout .
My only concern is given the k.o.time on the day many firms will pack up for Christmas I only hope people behave themselves and are there to enjoy the game and not to continue getting rat arsed therefore spoiling the occasion for the majority .

I was really looking forward to this game even though its on one of the worst nights of the year for travelling/traffic/rail/bus/parking! That was until we looked at your ticket prices for a reasonable seat £26/38 were simply not paying that for rugby at this level.
I am going to write to Pirates to ask for reciprocal pricing with clubs that charge these sorts of prices its nothing against you supporters but the prices aren't fair.
Its a long journey 390 plus miles return trip in the evening/morning and with respect parking there isn't good and on the 22nd December motorways/roads around there!
We were going to come up in an estate 5 of us we have now decided against it its simply too expensive it would also nice to know which clown at the RU though a Friday night fixture on one of the worst travelling weekends of the year was a good idea?
I hope its a good game and we win its just sad ordinary working class people are being priced out of rugby but then the RU are only interested in the top division and promoting the "product"?

Canít say I disagree with your sentiments on cost. We are lucky to have a big stadium and Iíve always thought it best to have cheap tickets to encourage people to come and watch. Charge season ticket and members of away clubs the same as they pay at home isnít a bad idea in my mind as it goes some way to reward those loyal supporters who make the effort to travel to away games often at great cost. Sorry you guys arenít coming itís going to be a good game.

There are seats for £21 available right now from both the side and behind the sticks so not sure what makes them unreasonable.

Given you'll be seeing a side with a number of internationals in one of the best stadiums in the country I don't think that's a bad deal at all.

£21 seems pretty much the average price for seated tickets in the Championship. So come on SJM1 - you'll be very welcome.

Richmond are charging £15 to stand around the side of a pitch so like Rinkadink says £21 surely is not excessive.

Well, St Just Man 1, Bristol have already sold 8,000 tickets so they must be doing something right

If I were you Iíd be making the most of the cheap tickets at the
Mennaye Because you can bet that when your new stadium is built those prices will rise substantially. Thatís a shame because we donít want fans priced out, but facilities, team and all the associated bills have to be paid. But a positive for the club being that progress can be made.
Many in Bristol will miss the old place though.

We've been busy around the sheep and doing turkeys and saw us beating scarletts one of our group rang your club and ended up speaking to a Mr Torpey who was neither helpful or pleasant I heard part of the conversation not the sort of man wed have down here but that's a personal opinion. We don't watch rugby from ends we stand along the pitch at the Mennaye so on cost we will give it a miss though Mr Torpey didn't help. On a point on costs I know 2 of your season ticket holders he was going to buy two tickets for two of his family members but they declined on cost too!
On Daves point its down to what every individual can afford and think is value for money as you say 8,000 good luck. On Ollys point about the stadium for Cornwall that will be a 66 mile round trip to a home game instead of 12 miles and if its too expensive we have all said we wont go. We will watch Penzance and Newlyn amateurs at the Mennaye or go to Redruth and just follow the county side.
Pirates support will change as prices increase as for all clubs the support changes in who goes look at the premiership and soccer no longer working mens prices that's why I like the shed at Gloucester we need standing at grounds to keep the atmosphere and affordable prices. Pirates support will also change as for travelling between 66/50 miles round trips to home games soon gets expensive for people on lower incomes and pensions. hope we win and happy new year to you all even Mr Torpey!

So, basically you want to watch amateur rugby. You won't even watch Pirates if they move to Truro. Fair enough, but that somewhat precludes from coming on here complaining about Bristol not being an amateur club. As for your Two Bristol season ticket holders who are apparently not attending, well, 9,500 are.
