Let's Grow a Pair!
EC Boy 16 April, 2018 22:29
I hate the name: I hate the badge: I hate the kit:

But

It's still Bristol Rugby.

Please can I ask someone sensible to record the names of all those precious souls who "won't be coming anymore?"

They've had their hissy fit. Now let's hope they Foxtrot Oscar somewhere else. If you think this isn't your club any more, "exit pursued by bear" and let the rest of us make the most of it.

See ya!

Yeah that's helping to smooth things over - well done....

Now those unhappy with it have all given different views. The news has been with us for less than 24 hrs and so feelings will be raw for a little while and it's naïve to think everyone can just get on with it without a moan or expressing concern or even anger in some cases.. I've only seen one poster who has said he won't come any more and we have to respect that and hope he will change his mind. The fact others have voiced concerns shows they care and we each care in different ways and have different views on how good or bad the new stuff is. My big concern is it does not make commercial sense imho but I hope I am proved wrong and also feel I should be able to express my concerns on this site. I'd rather have eexpressed them to the Club before the decision was made but they didn't give us that choice.

We are all fans of this great club so let us debate this but not fall out over it. That said I personally have wasted enough time today giving my views and as nothing will change I won't do so anymore (it's lucky I work for myself!)

Peace

You berk. Multiple people on this website have stamped their foot and said they won't buy a season ticket/go again/will go to Dings etc instead. Well good on them: but get on with it, rather than spoil the journey for the rest of us. This development is rubbish as far as I'm concerned but, if you can't even try to be positive, go somewhere else if that's what's you've said.

So you’re the only one who’s allowed a Hissy fit EC Boy? Got it. Good. Well done you!

I actually didn’t take it seriously yesterday and thought I wasn’t bothered. As the news came in I got quite emotional really. It makes you question what is the soul of the club you support- long gone are the days of it being Home town boys playing, bar one or two, so the badge, the colours, the name, the ground and the traditions are what keep you feeling like it’s “your team”.
Of course there’s still top flight Rugby in our city and of course most of us will come back to see if Bris can stay up this time but something will be different. We now support a franchise and not our home town club with the traditions that entails. We know where we stand as mere supporters and that the owner will do what he wants with the club.

I fully understand those that think they won’t be back. I’d imagine that most probably will return at some point but we’re a broad church and we have been through a hell of a lot in recent decades, years, months and hours so people can react how they want and cone back when they want!!

I assume you attempted a rallying call but you just sound rather immature and foolish!

Funny how the ‘progressive’ ones are often the first to become aggressive and always the first to dismiss those who disagree with them as “moaners” or, if feeling particularly verbose, “berks”.

You say you hate everything, but then are hostile towards those who don’t comply with you as soon as you decide it’s time to “shut up and get on with things”.

Like a ... with a sore head.

Fill in the blank, and make sure you get your full serving of porridge in the morning - might make you less hungry for a fight.

I think everyone should calm down. It's a big change that's come abruptly, it's boing to cause an emotional response. Almost all of the opinions I have read on here have been reasonable and considered even if I haven't agreed with a lot of it. There's no point us all having a go at each other bleddy hell

Its a long time since this was a club Rich, but its now very clear its business, lets hope its not a franchise, as you suggest, as they are often designed to be sold but it does very much look like one.

I was going to suggest that bears get replaced by sheep for all those who accept and follow without questioning. It may be a done deal, but it stamps though most of what's left for me to believe in about the team. Whilst survival was vital, I don't believe at win at all costs. Something are more important to some of us, but clearly not all us.

Stand out in a crowd, wear the Hoops!

Having seen the club go from Bristol RFC to Bristol Shoguns to Bristol Rugby and now Bristol Bears I am used to the name changes and it probably will happen again. I just think that the zero consultation with the supporters club was a big mistake.

Whether you agree with the name change or not it is still Bristol! Let's get behind the team and give them our all next season because I want success.

Btw, the Bristol letters in the numbers is a class touch. I would prefer more hoops though!

I’ve just returned to this forum and am cringing at my rudeness.

Rich - and anyone else who I offended - please accept my apologies for my aggressive and boneheaded posts in this thread. I was shocked by some posters’ negativity towards the news, but that doesn’t excuse my stupidity for one minute.

Rich - you freely give some great insights on this forum. It would be a great shame if others lost the benefit of them, because of my two posts.

You’ve all heard quite enough from me, so I’ll wish you all the best and sign off.

EC, passions run high on both sides, those that have freaked out and said they won’t support the bears and those that think it’s a sign of real forward motion, it just shows people care about the club, I’m sure no one takes stuff on here personally so don’t sweat it.
