Don't see how, we are a championship side for basically a decade who weren't spending up to the cap (and we still aren't now)... bit of hypocrisy in the article also saying Wray is decent but he is also one of the key figures in pushing salary cap increases and marquee signings.

Probably more like Austin is salty over Tiggers not making the top 4 for the first time since 2003 or similar and needs to point the finger somewhere.

Wray is a decent rugby man at a club we know flaunted the salary cap. And yes, I am aware the word ought to be flouted but apparently Austin Healey or the Torygraph aren't. Perhaps we should reign them in.

Salary Cap or no Salary Cap clubs will find away around paying their players what they want. Having read Keith Senior's 'The bold truth' he talked about the RL salary cap and how it in some cases contributed to the loss of talent to RU and NRL. He also mentions of England Internationals getting visits in the night with black bags of money.

I personally think the salary cap should be frozen for a 3 years and players under 25 and EQP be exempt. It won't solve the financial problems but it will give breathing room for clubs to sort out the financial side of things.

Interesting article in TRP today where Lam touches on how we were offered Harry Williams but that he wanted a massive wage and we then signed multiple championship players for the same outlay. Seems the sensible way to go, hungry players backed up by a few stars. Particularly pleased with the two jersey props and Thiede as well.

I'm not sure that's true anymore to be honest, after Bath and Saracens had their knuckles rapped - and that is one reason why Bath has struggled this season, because they don't have much depth as they've put all their money into the top players and so struggled when they are injured. If there was still ways around it then for sure Bath would have had greater depth. And we'd also have a couple more star signings (Pat could have had Harry Williams and all those other players he referred to)
