Some 50 years ago we used to bemoan the fact that to get into the England side you needed to play for Quins or a London side but definitely not Bristol or Glaws ( Barf not in contention then)
And so today we see the demolition of Quins by a West country side with players that should be in the England reckoning.
Sounds as though Simmonds Exeter 21 year old scrum half had a great game, yet the press has been ling touting Quins flybhalf and others
Does the pricimity to the Cabbage Patch still matter?

I think Smith has been forced into Quins' first team through injury and done well (like Searle) rather than the case at Exe where Baxter has managed Simmonds introduction which is probably better for the player.

One creates less of a stir but I expect the latter to be involved with the England training much like the former at some point.

and so the selection of the England squad for South Africa has been announced and reinforces my point about a bias against west country clubs and players.
How Armand is overlooked in favour of several also rans is beyond me. Also WOodward and Trinder at Glaws are not selected and this is inexplicable.

I think for Woodward see Goode - Jones wants a risk-free full back. Trinder so unlucky but the view may be he will continue to be injury prone and so not worth considering (could say same about Manu Tuilagi now of course).

As for Armand, I'd like to have seen him choose Zimbabwe to play for. But as he hasn't yes I can't understand why he's not on the tour. Has he said something bad to Jones?
