Challenge Cup

2pm today and we’ll know how we’re playing in Europe. Anyone we fancy or want to avoid in particular?

A rematch with Stade Francais would be nice or a trip to La Rochelle.

Supporting Bristol since... since... Oh, not enough fingers.

Of course anyone thinking of going over to France to watch a match (or even to Russia if we play their team) should remember that potentially we may send a very weakened team.

I've always fancied going to La Rochelle as well and easyJet certainly used to do cheap flights there from 'Lulsgate' ( don't know if they still do)

NickBeard - apart from the fact that Heidelberg aren't in it...

The trip to Siberia is brutal - it's a long, long way east!

They've played a couple of fixtures in Sochi. Connacht had to go all the way east in November though.

It was -30 when Connacht played there, would love to go, but think it might be a push.

They did qualify but excluded because owned by the same guy as Stade.

Welcome to Russia! Hope Enisei will play two home game in October in Krasnoyarsk. 2015 is a year World Cup. It was a mistake to play in mid-November in Siberia. In October, the temperature will be + 5 -5. No problem. It's like winter in Britain. The English have never been to Siberia. We hope Bristol will be the first club. Only three clubs played in Krasnogorsk Connacht, Bordeaux and Stade Frans (against Krasny Yar).

Is this the same Russian team that beat us at Clifton in a friendly a few season back in the Robbo era?

Pat Lam and Aly Muldowney were with Connacht in Siberia in mid-November 2015. This was the first history match of the Challenge Cup in Russia. Then it was -20. But this was metaphysics. The Irish have shown great respect for Russia. Them in season they won the Celtic League.
Krasnoyarsk is preparing for the 2019 Winter Universiade. A new airport has been constructed, and the Central Stadium is being completed. In October there will be no problems for rugby.
