He's represented Wales but is described by Lam as 'a young Englishman'?

Perhaps he’s dual qualified? I can’t remember if Sevens is a tie-in’er!

Welcome aboard Toby
Please don't go home as soon as the WRU feed you a pack of lies
Look at all the other ex Bristol players who's careers they've ended

Got this from the Ebbw website (from last year, I guess?)

"21-year-old Toby Fricker has been recommended to the club following his exploits for Welsh Academicals where he has played at wing, full back and 13. He is Welsh qualified through his father who is from Builth Wells. A native of London, Toby went through the London Scottish Academy prior to moving to Southampton University and he will be moving to Wales to complete a Masters degree. At over 6ft tall and weighing 15st 7lb he will bring a powerful and fast carrying game to the Steelmen and is very excited at the prospect of running out at Eugene Cross Park."

So all those players were promised Wales caps if they played for Welsh regions?

Seems as unlikely as it is unsubstantiated.

I've seen him a few times when Ebbw have been on "Scrum V" and he looked handy - strong, pacy and a real handful. Huge step up of course, but best of luck and hope he makes it.

Alex, no they weren't PROMISED caps if they moved back to Wales, but, they were told if they weren't playing in Wales, there chances would be reduced.
Remember, Callum Brailey was told to move away from Bristol if he wanted to play for England. So goes to Glawss and no chance of an England cap so now selected for Italy
Get real

So they weren’t lied to then?

And even now he'd struggle to get in the Italian side

Seems to be the long and short of it.

I am really looking forward to seeing how well this new lad develops. If he grows into the roll as quickly and efficiently as the guys we plucked from the championship last season then we could be in for a treat. Incidentally Isn't Ebbw Vale Jason Stranges old stomping ground?? Wonder if he had any input? Though I believe he is at Cardiff now.

Bristol, like the glass is Blue, Bristol Blue.

It's very important not to throw this lad in at the deep end. I'm guessing he will first have to learn the Bears way of doing things and in the short term only be used if injuries demand - which hopefully will not be the case.
