Sale Sharks Director of Rugby Kingsley Jones has named his team to face Wasps in the re-arranged Guinness Premiership Round Nine Game at Edgeley Park tomorrow evening.

Kingsley said, “ After the defeat to Northampton we have had some extra preparation time for this game and we have had some excellent sessions with the players. I have decided to play Kristian Ormsby at Number 8 for this game; he has experience in this position playing in New Zealand and gives me move options as does the return of Luke Abraham who has missed the last eight weeks. With Ormsby at Number 8, Sisa’s extra weight at flanker will help our scrum.”

Kingsley added, “We know Wasps will be tough and they are a good side hunting for a place in the top four at the end of the season. We need to respect them throughout the game, be patient and keep our discipline.”

Team Marika Vakacegu, Dafydd James, Jonny Kennedy, Nick Macleod, Ben Cohen, Charlie Hodgson, Richard Wigglesworth, Eifion Roberts, Neil Briggs, Jack Forster, Chris Jones, Dean Schofield, Sisa Koyamaibole, Luke Abraham, Kristian Ormsby

Bench (sorry cut and paste malfunction)

Replacements: Marc Jones, Gavin Kerr, Rob O’Donnell, Sean Cox, Carl Fearns, David Seymour, Chris Leck, David Bishop.

About as good as we could expect given the players that are unavailable. hopefully they'll play with a point to prove and with the passion for this club that they need to show, even though some may be off to pastures new soon.
Sisa on the flank and pushing will, in my opinion, prove an added bonus and if Ormsby can get back to the sort of form we know he's capable of, then we could give Wiggy the ball behind a pack moving forward.

Come on boys, don't play with anything less than 100% pride, passion and most importantly commitment and you'll get the crowd behind you, and with the crowd behind you, you'll feel brilliant. We, the supporters, need a result just as much as you do....so show the fight we know is within you.

Ps... I'm not able to be there so hopefully the commentary will be drowned out by the noise of Tigger & Loud celebrating many tries!!

RIP 275

Sisa clearing out Ormsby's tackler should be an interesting site - like watching a hedgehog getting run over by a truck - just so long as he does it legit.

Hopefully Ormsby can stabilise the pack in the scrum and Sisa will be able to a job at flanker.
The centre's worry me mind you....

Whats the bench?

I'm going to a nervous and edgy 4 point Sale win....

Very light for cover in the backs

Lot of back row cover Cox Fearns and Seymour????? Could even move Briggs or Jones there. 2 backs on bench does not make sense to me. Perhaps he will move Sisa to 13!!!!!!

I know I've asked before, but can't remember the answer, but what's up with Martin Halsall? He's not listed as injured, and now O'Donnell seems to be getting the nod ahead of him.

Fingers crossed all the backs last the 80minutes, although maybe a centre partnership of Seymour and Sisa could be just what we need grinning smiley

I really like the thinking of McLeod at 12, come to think of it. Good distributor, good defence and a great passer. Also allows the back three to have a bit of pace with Marika in there.
All in all, pleased with that!

why does kingsley have to be so transparent when he announces his team. Why not let wasps work it out on the night and give them less time to prepare. Why tell them about changes to Sisa's position on the scrum or that the kicking game will be vital. I fear that we will have been overcoached and forced to stick to a rigid gameplan. Six forwards on the bench signals the intention.

If wasps hadnt considered Sisa switching to 6, they hadnt done their job.

seymour to centre wouldnt surprise me if need be.

Macleod at 12 with CH inside is an invite for a runner - LA will have to be on his toes and Briggs at his best. But Mcleod does have a good step and not a bad boot.

The pack - Jones and Briggs are no slouches and neither is LA. But after the Quins games and Leeds, why isnt seymour 1st choice. Fearns will come on at 6 for sure if the Sisa experiment fails and it wont hurt us at all. I just hope Forster is fit because he has promise.

What does Sisa bring to 6 that he doesn't to 8?

A push in the scrum perhaps?

What's the betting Ormsby and Sisa swap during the game?

I think as some one said above, he is good defensive cover for the number 8, and with Ormsby's quicker pace that could get interesting!

Sorry - I phrased that badly. I should have said - Why does KJ expect Sisa to be effective at 6 when he's ineffective at 8?

Re: Team news

I can see Sisa swap to 8 during the game, or on our ball maybe. He is an amazing ball carrier from a standing start, though like all good players they get marked out of the game. This is KJ playing the game to shift the focus away from him.

Go Saaayyyuuulll

Congratulations KJ you've actually thought about selection this week! I think having the great orm at 8 will steady the ship a little and maybe atleast we won't pick up at the back of every scrum that's under pressure. I'm not to sure about mcleod at 12 but he must be better that emily bishop!! And how does seymore not start? One of the best players of the season in my opinion and who starts ahead of him, an injury prone yellow card liability!

Seems obvious (and might I add sensible) that our way to beat Wasps it to beat them up front where they have been weak during the season (as we have).

I assume that we will try and outmuscle them with Charlie kicking in the corners and all penalties.

I don't see this as a running rugby game, which to be honest, is probably the best tactic against Wasps.

Must make sure Lemi is not allowed any space on the ball!!! - he is still scoring/making some incredible tries.

Should be a great game. Please cheer on my behalf

You maybe disappointed Sale by date-comment from KJ when discussing CH's return from England

"The key to playing Wasps is having a very good kicking strategy-Charlie is key to that."

Hmmm-kind of sets the tone for the game I would suggest.Prepare for some aerial ping pong.Pack selection also suggests it being kept tight.I would have benched Sisa and had Fearns at 6-he puts in the work that Koyamaiwotsit will never do

Re: Team news

I'm afraid i can see Sisa slipping his bindings and being pinged but someone has to protect 8 and 9 - we have been hounded to hell at that position and it shouldnt be happening.

But if Sisa does one job and ballasts EfFi, then in the right places we should able to wheel them. It will be a case of do 1 thing right for Sisa - scrummage - No1 priority - no penalties, lots of push and protect Wiggy, then comes following up Ormsby - hopefull for the off load - scary thought - and then i think he's the man to stand guard as Sherri does at the ruck and protect wiggy and counter ruck if needed.

After that, anything out in the open is a bonus.
