That was more like it. Still too much kicking without a credible chase for my liking but hey, let's not quibble over detail.

I trust that this will have improved the confidence of the squad and move them onwards and upwards.

Well done, guys! (Sm152)

Thought we chased very well. Briggs workrate extraordinary. Jones majestic in lineout. Ormsby a better option at 8. Much better attitude all round. Great banter on pizza. Pizza chant greeted Wasps as they came off. All the Wasps fancy boys Sackey ,Varndell and cipriani were dreadful. Shaun left the stand before the end!! Brilliant to deny them a bonus point. They deserved absolutely nothing from this and got exactly that.

And now Chris White. Has he lost his yellow card? One should have gone in the first half in the failed attempt at a try that ended in a penalty in front of goal. Secondly blatantly pulling a guy back who could have scored deserved another. Very very spinelesss.

Apparently we were actually quite good, Hodgson amazing as usual. Quote off report: "Sale lacked sparkle in their own backline but they were superior in the scrum". So it looks like the forwards came good in the end

Briggs easily m-o-m. Outstanding forwards, and even the worrying centre partnership was solid for most of the game! Still too much pointless kicking, and even sillier penalties, but a great win. Bit of heart and passion as well!

Wasps were lucky to get away with just that level of loss, as they should have had two sin bins in the last 20 minutes. I really enjoyed the hostile reception they got from the crowd, and I feel they deserved it. Still, it was good of Wasps to play, and seeing them feeding the ball in to the scrum is cetainly an improvement on feeding pizza into their face.

On a more positive note, Well done Sale. I'm proud of your performance. Thanks

Good in parts. Scores on the doors:-

Vakecegu 5 got turned over twice, scored - or should have done
Cohen 6 - better than usual
Kennedy 3 - missed too many tackles
MacLeod 6 - nothing in attack save the kick ahead.
James 6 - tackled ok
CH 7 - all good bar poor up and unders, conditions plus blitz asked for grubbers through. Acted as captain.
Wiggy 7 - poor kicking from hand, battled through.

Eifion 6 - scrummed well, played the ruck guard Sheridan role. Has played a lot of rugby and it shows.
Briggs 8 - human dynamo, occasional poor throw.
Forster 7 - strong and involved.
Jones 9 motm - pinched important throws, solid on ours, put himself about a lot. Deacon please note.
Schofield 5 - carrying an injury apparently.
Sisa 5 - didn't cut it at 6
Abrahams 7 - his kind of game, exposed when Wimps stepped it up after h-t
Ormsby 8 - good tackling stint, linked with Wiggy better than Sisa does.

Subs:-

Bishop 6 made some tackles
Seymour 6 put more pace into back row
Fearns 6 on too late imho
Jones M 6 big shoes to fill

CH took a knock which won't be welcome news. Whether it was Pizzagate or relegation threat but we had some attitude tonight.

Marvellous - season starts now. Weekend going to be a good one. I'd like to see scores on the doors because the BBC report only really mentioned Charlie and I'm sure that turning the tide of defeat will have required a team performance, not a one man show.

Well done lads - hope you're enjoying a celebratory tipple or two. I am!

Well done guys! It's been a while since I've had cause for such celebration on a Friday night. Some inspired performances and Wasps got what they deserved after their tactical walk out last time.

We have tough fixtures away and with renewed focus, belief and the continuing loyal support, we should win all remaining home games and live to fight on in the GP.

Life is for learning; let's avoid this situation next season.

Mrs T ,very harsh call on the player scores, where you and I at the same match ?
That was the most spirited and commited performance since the opening game of the season, and atmosphere to match. No player deserved less than a 6,perhaps sisa, and dafyd just making it .Our makeshift backs (JK and McCloud at centre!) contained a talented wasps backline (we would have loved to have players of cip's,varndell's and waldouks talent on the bench),although sackey was shocking, just not interested.Wiggy had a great game and his box kicks the best I've seen this season, his attitude despite his leaving was brilliant.
Our forwards were fantastic,Briggsie and CJ fabulous workrate, and the engage and hit on the scrum awesome, the lineout both ours and steals first class with good hooker throwing. The coaches deserve a lot of credit, obviously been beasting the pack all week.
The only blots on the night were poor officiating,Chris White used to be the best, but age and indecision(1 blatant yellow, once possible missed)are affecting his game, and the linesmen were atrocious and no help to the ref. The crooked feeds at the scrum were a joke,as were the wasps forwards constantly offside at ruck.
Back to the theme CONGRATULATIONS SALE !!

Brilliant job boys! If it is any consolation I feel very, very unwell this morning - the result of lots of very aggressive clapping and jumping about like a looney. Still, it is worth every ache and pain I am suffering from. Taken my tablets and had massive infusion of coffee so by the time the England match is on telly I will be ready to start screaming all over again. (I have pre-warned my neighbours and they are going to go out!).

The atmosphere was fantastic and I loved the booing and jeering. Like panto. Serves them right! I can cope with anything (almost) now we have beaten THEM. Have to agree that some of the ref decisions were a bit odd; until I called him a fairy! I find the gentle approach often works best.

Well done again. Keep it up and onwards and upwards.

Like camshark, I think that's harsh. He put in some massive clearances when we were under pressure in our half.

Kicking the ball out of Cipriani's reach to claim the try was just the kind of sharpness we want to see from the team too.

Congrats from another (relative) neutral.

It could be argued that a win at this stage on the season is much more valuable to team confidence than a win at the original 'pizzagate' time. It could ultimately work in your favour.

Onwards and upwards.

See you at EP in April.... and in the 10/11 season.

Wiggy's superior kicking game, compared to Peel made a difference.

We instigated the kick chase tactics better than any other game this season.

White never gives cards, apart from foul play. Which is why I don't rate him as a ref. They should have had 2 yellows.

Though, they should have been 14 points up, so I guess luck evened itself out.

A collective victory for the team, the coaches and the game plan this one - I haven't seen the set piece so solid all season. Sure the kicking tactic was still present (and I have moaned bitterly about this all season) but it seemed to be to a plan and constructive, and the execution was just that much better than normal. Would still like to see a better chase though.(Sm100)

PS - IMHO a Premiership ref needs to have the conviction to understand when a yellow card is approporiate... Mr White should examine himself and maybe grow a pair...
