He's one of those players who just rubs people up the wrong way for no obvious reason. I suspect if he wore a Sharks shirt for his day job this board would love him, just as the Quims fans love him.

In terms of attack he was doing that and more a few years ago but in recent times he hasn't been of the same standard. His defence was found wanting on a couple of occasions, so it wasn't all good news yesterday.

That was an outstanding individual contribution on Saturday, and a sublime offload. But he's good at individual contribution.

What his isnt good at is making others around him look good. One good pass doesnt change a thousand ones not given.

One hopes he's taking lessons on board from Glen Ella and we can see more of this Mike Brown and not the frustrating version whose attacking contribution often makes Halfpenny look quite threatening.

Did anyone else catch the irony of Jeremy Guscott making a sarky remark about Mike Brown actually passing the ball?

wasnt lost on me. But to be honest, the criticism of his distribution, or lack of, has been far too gentle in most quarters for any of them to be able to speak up loudly now.

Mike Brown 62 England appearances 10 tries
Jeremy Guscott 65 and 30 tries

Therefore Guscott must have held on to the ball three times as much as Brown!

I still prefer Alex Goode.
