we seem to have a couple of ringers from pacific islands. Are these guys on trial for XV's or just involved for 7's?

I'm so excited by this season, that I'm almost excited by this 7s comp. Would be good to have a look at these players. Having an experienced head may improve our chances of winning it, but I'd rather just blood youngsters than flinging Cliff and Leota in.

Hopefully the ringers will have lots of pace!

It think Wasps have this one sewn up already.

But for the rest who are treating the competition as a development exercise, then there looks to be some exciting squads in there, including ours.

Do Wasps have Wade? Not seen their squad. Not sure there is any benefit to putting a strong team out. Winning it isn't going to impact on the 15s.

Looks like wasps are the only ones stacking their side

Ours doesn't look like too many ringers when you read their bios, all but one are either local or academy(/academy linked).

That was pretty painful to watch

gosh, that was awful.

Mitchell may not have cut it at XV so far, but he gave us some shape and decision making at 7's, which was totally absent there.

i'm a bit late putting 2 and 2 together to realise it was starting this evening. also they have 4 pools of 3 rather than 3 of 4? I suppose they don't want teams playing more than 2 games tonight.

Paolo didn't get the ball once in the 7 minutes I was watching.

It was a lot better.

Not entirely sure that our Fijian ringer is totally helping the academy boys' game plan - to my eye he seems quite a soloist whereas getting the ball to Paolo should have been the basic tactic. When he finally did get it, he scored! It sure if was wrist or shoulder but I hope it's not serious.

Looked more like wrist on tv. Much better second time round. Thought Dolly did really well for a big lad, you wouldn't think he'd be a natural sevens player but he was really effective

Maybe if a few other sides took it seriously you might get a few more people turn up to watch
As for winning some silverware I don't think I need to bother commenting on that !!

No defence and and think Leota is giving the attack coaching as instead of passing the ball out they just them to be running into men
