Well, the play opened on 17 January 1775 at the Covent Garden Theatre and introduced the wonderful Mrs Malaprop to the world. I wonder which of the two lived up to the Malaprop billing that day, while the other player took the leading role to play like an Absolute dream.

I recall seeing Mickey Skinner and a French player in a pose like that during a 5 Nations game and they were absolutely screaming at each other.

When Mickey was interviewed afterwards he was asked what it was all about. His reply was something along the lines of: We fell into a friendly discussion about one of the more esoteric and obscure points of rugby Law. The problem was that I can't speak French and he couldn't speak English.

I think the French player concerned later murdered his wife . It's a good job for Mickey the Munch that the 5N/6N laws prohibit carrying firearms on the pitch.

A former work colleague of mine was arrested for attempting to strangle his wife whilst in a hotel in London. It was his second attempt, he having tried to run her over previously.

The Daily Telegraph, reporting this latter event, seemed pretty relaxed at his trying to murder his wife and seemed to imply that such behaviour was quite normal, what exercised their reporter more was his weapon of choice - an MCC tie!

An outrage beyond the pale indeed!

Was this before or after Ben Stokes played for England?

Marc Cecillon shot his wife in the face. Eric Champ stood face to face with Skinner.

It's Cecillon that gets hit by Skinner from the 5m scrum, then driven back and dumped on his backside.
