Just remembered BUCS rugby on free sport. 24 minutes in - channel 95 on BT and Freeview - not sure on freesat or Sky.

I hope some of you watched that. An excellent game, with the lead changes hands four times in the last 15 minutes or so, Durham beating Northumbria 30-29 with a converted a try with just a minute or so left. In the other match Cardiff Met beat Exeter 25-24. One more game to go with Northumbria, Durham and Cardiff all with a chance of finishing in top place.

Yes, the rugby isn't of top class standard, and the conditions weren't good, but there were several plus points.
1) hard fought, it meant something to the players of both sides
2) virtually no appealing to the referee for decisions
3) no dissent shown at all at decisions by either side
4) occasionally the ball was almost straight at the scrums
5) no remarks from the commentators about the referee missing anything
6) no 25 camera angles showing the referee missed something that 'would have been a game changer'.

The one error, if you can call it that, was giving the man of the match award to the captain of what became the losing side. Wouldn't it be more sensible in all games to wait till after the final whisle?
