Bristol change team name following promotion.

I'm looking forward to watching the Teddies next season.

Well surely Bristol will get a 4 week ban for this homophobic slur, right?

I really like their new website, it's very inclusive although Denny might not be welcome!

From my TV based education, it's gay slang for fellow gay men that look like bears, ie. big and hairy.

I laughed out loud, how could they not have caught that, or has someone just bought that web address?

I'll be deeply, deeply amused if someone has just set that website up.

p.s. many, many moons ago, my 5month pregnant wife and I stayed at "Baby Bears House" at San Francisco. That was an interesting experience.

With due recognition to Guildford Saint

Will the Bristol Rugby Acadamy now become buildabear

Next seasons kit looks a bit minimal

Actually ‘Grizzlies’ is a far better name! Gnarly bad tempered and dangerous Vs cute and cuddly.

Could well be, but this Bristol outfit has to be a strong contender too:

Personally- never find these "add ons" (inc our own) in RU (nor RL) very......interesting, inspiring, clever, appealing etc etc etc

Absolutely jamestaylerreturns. Hear Hear!!!

And the suggestion that some opposition fans might be inspired to sing a fine old nursery rhyme -- as finely rendered here by Henry Hall and his Orchestra -- is equally uninteresting, uninspiring and unappealing!

Let us hope that the South Stand Massif will have nothing to do with such a thing!

It just leave Gloucester & Bath as the only "unnamed" teams.

With a swift nod in the direction of The Shed, they could become Gloucester Cyclops, in recognition of the openminded attitude of the Sheddies.

& for Bath, how about Bath Plughole, in recognition of where this season is taking them (again)

Most appropriate.

Or, in keeping with the current vogue for alliteration, how's about the Gloucester Gorillas and the Bath Baboons. If the clubs wish to pay me large sums of money, I will happily come up with a marketing plan along the lines of the Bristol one to fully justify these forward-looking and progressive rebrandings.

I've managed to find an appropriate image for the Bath Baboons, to be used on all merchandice and Bath Baboons related paraphanalia.

Doesn't sound like Gloucester will be in that illustrious group for long, they've recently trademarked Gloucester Lions and a number of logos are floating round as well

But HairyQueens, sorry Harlequins, is a novelty name, before novelty names, became fashionable.

No it's the name of the club (or rather Harlequin Football Club is). They were named when the club was founded in 1870.

No no no it's a silly novelty name. The next thing you know people be naming their Rugby club after black and amber flying insects. Absolutely ridiculous it'll never happen !!!

Or even a medieval nickname for Middle-Eastern persons!

No chance of that. It's clearly a xenophobic slur!
