Depends on if there is ligament damage.

Many years ago a teammate dislocated his knee and whilst being lifted onto a stretcher, it went back in.
He was walking normally the next day....
I suspect he was very lucky.....

It's not a knee cap but his whole knee that went out of socket. Bleurgh.

I'm no doctor (but not a stranger to knee problems) but Marland's lower leg was at an extremely unnatural angle for a little while. I would expect a reasonable amount of ligament damage to collaterals at least.

Unhappiness, where's when I was young
And we didn't give a damn
'Cause we were raised
To see life as a fun and take it if we can

and menisci... and probably either the ACL, PCL or both!....
A horrendous injury.

There will have certainly be some damage to the ligaments and possibly the meniscus if the knee has discloated. However, he seems to have avoided (significant) damage to the popliteal artey and/or the nerve which supply the lower leg, if what has been said so far is correct. Damage to either, artey or nerve, can have more far reaching consquences. Billy Woof, who had played for Caldy through the age groups, had to have a knee level amputation because the artery was severed.

On another thread it said about him having oxygen as he came off. This will have been a nitrous oxide/ oxygen mix such as Entonox.

Just watched a reply on BT sport....it's not nice. Suggest that are squeamish don't watch it if C5 show it tonight. Can't imagine the lengthy of injury will be like AJ's - Marlands leg was at an angle it should not have been at....shame really as he was really playing well

For the morbid amongst us, 15 minutes into this video will show why Yarde is likely out for longer than AJ was.

Can't imagine it will be on C5 highlights.
Really wish him all the best for getting over this.
From a pragmatic point of view, at least we have some depth in the backs nowadays...

I am not a big fan of Yarde, but wish him a full recovery. These guys put their bodies on the line every match in large part for our entertainment.

On a positive note, he's only 26 so plenty of time to come back after this.

Seems like he's been around forever, looks like his debut was at 18.

Horrified on Saturday but glad to hear that Marland is positive and looking to the future. All the best.

Just got round to watching the highlights, and the tackle looked fairly routine, but then saw his leg at a horrible angle. Very sorry for him as he was one of the standout players in the match (and for the previous five too). The high ball catch and long break up the right side, and then the ultra aware pass to Evans to score on the left, were magic.
Hoping he can get sorted by the medics as soon as possible, and look forward to seeing him again next season.

Not surprised to hear of the terrible ligament damage after seeing the hideous angle of his leg on the highlights

Hope the recovery goes well and that he can get back the level of performance that we've seen since he joined us

Best wishes Marland

Medial Collateral Ligament and Anterior Criuciate Ligament both ruptured completely.
Season ending Injury. If all goes well may be back for pre-season next year, but it could be much longer.
Best wishes Marland.
