A quick scribbling here.

Merry Christmas, everyone and here's hoping for an extra present next Saturday (we can hope, can't we?)

Interesting to know how much of the scrum came from the front row, or if JLdP makes any difference? Not normally that much impact from the back, but seems strange to have been so far on top with the same front 3 that have played most games (assuming it wasn’t Bristol weakness as by all accounts they’ve been good in that area).

Could be wrong but think the pass to Denny for the first try was also JL rather then RdP?

Can’t remember which game (possibly Saints?), but I do believe RdP is a better distributor than AJ outside of the poor recent weather conditions. He was fizzing passes out for players to run onto, and don’t forget it took AJ 18 months to adapt to our attacking system. I think there’s a place for both if we’re serious about top 4.

Possibly. I'm going as much from memory as anything else, so could have been mistaken.

Oh, aye. No argument there. I'm just saying that right now I'd still prefer AJ (if fit). Give RdP time and it'll be a fierce competition between them.

That’s very fair. I think AJ suffered early doors from Faf being unavailable - both he and Cliff are good players, but I think together they’re just a bit too pedestrian, especially when also missing JoC etc.

Conversely, a maverick 10 like DC outside of Faf could be a disaster (or genius).

Yeah. I said early last season that I was looking forward to Faf + JOC but, when it happened, I thought it was a bit of a mess. That's when I decided that you need one maverick and one "pedestrian" half back. So, Faf + AJ or Wilf + JOC work, but not like with like.

At the moment, I think AJ has a better understanding with Faf (and whoever is at outside centre) than RdP. That will change if Rob stays with us (or comes back at some point).
