I guess that this is the place to introduce myself as I have been a long time lurker and now intend to start getting a bit more active in the discussions.

I'm Mark and I played at Burnage and now coach minis & Juniors at Stockport, also beginning a career as a society ref.

I sit in the main stand when I go to Sharks (3-4 times per season) but I have had a County season ticket (now in the Cheadle End) for about 20 years.

What era do you come from at Burnage and what position did you play?

20+ years ago at Burnage, one of Ted Taylor's Colts. I still keep an eye out for their results and try to get down there a few times per year to catch up and have a beer.

I was a hooker and used spend my afternoone with AT, now U14's coach at Manchester. I believe that you have Manchester FC connections.

My 'real' name is Sandra and I am often referred to as Mrs B. I first went to watch Sale when my son, who is now going on for 22, was a 4 year old and we were given some free tickets by a close friend who was going off to play golf instead! The tickets had been given to him by a chap called Steve Diamond and I didn't have a clue who he was! Sorry. It was a cracking game against Leicester and I was in awe of most of the 'famous' players on the pitch having watched England for about three years when I found out that there were channels on the television showing sport other than football after I had thrown my now ex husband out and retrieved the remote control. We were hooked after that first game and my son and I then began to bring my daughter along. She eventually became a programme seller at Heywood Road and Jack and I would sit in the bar near the fire whilst he ate his pie and drank his half of shandy before chatting to the players as they arrived. Oh what happy days. All three of us became season ticket holders and we also had many happy nights at Junior Fin events - anyone remember those? I even have fond memories of a Christmas Party in the clubhouse and a very young Pat Sanderson serving the children their tea! Jack has attended lots of Sale Shark training camps (we have a cupboard full of too small teeshirts) and was the mascot in the days when Jos was the captain. My hope for this season is that we stay up! Anything better than that is a bonus - I actually said that to the chap in front of me on the very first day of this season. My favourite player? Number 14 is the clue. Jack still comes to the games with me when he is home from uni, I am usually accompanied by my daughter. We have been to the finals at Oxford and Twickers and go to some away games when finances allow us to. I don't normally go in 'for this type of thing' but I have been reading the forum for a long time and I usually have a laugh or speak out loud in agreement to a lot of the comments. I really do hope that friday is not marred by the plight of the football team. Thanks to those of you who offered to escort me - I won't be alone this week after all and will not let it spoil the game for me. Come on Sale....

A Saints fan, but have had a affection for your team since about 6/7 years ago when we were waiting at Stanstead Airport to fly off for a holiday when son (then about 12) said 'Dad, there are a lot of Sale shirts about!'Just then Jason Robinson came along. We had a word, apparently your team was off for some pre-season R&R in I think France. Jason and the rest of your guys couldn't have been kinder to an excitable 12 year old, autographs galore, Jason signed son's 'World Cup' book, even told him what page number he would sign! Then posed for a photo with him in his Sale shirt and son in his Saint's shirt.

What a man.

Added, woodhey, welcome aboard.

With the exception of sale fans, of course, the two sets of supporters who looked after her, unbidden and without complaint, were Munster and Worcester.

At a tangent from the thread here, we went to Sixways that time when Brush was chucking up on the touchline and Stan was nursing a cracked rib. We'd gone to one of the bars and I'd left her by the door to negotiate the purchase of libations from one of the barmen. What with one thing and another I fell into conversation with some Wuss supporters and thus didn't return to her for upwards of 45 minutes - and I expected a severe earbashing lasting several days for my misdemeanour.

Howver, several Wuss supporters had sat her down, bought her several drinks and I don't think she'd even noticed that I wasn't there!

And glorob went way way beyond the call of duty in looking after her before we even left these shores to get to Lomerick and then both before and after the match itself with seats at the supporter's club pre-match lunch, seats on the bus from Dolans to TP, etc. etc.

Bravo to both clubs! (Sm152)

Welcome both - you are now added to The Wall of Shame.

I follow Munster (and to a lesser extent Cork Con), Rottman, from the days when Sprog The Elder lived in Cork.

I've also been to TP a couple of times where your own glorob and Mrs glorob specifically, and the supporters generally, looked after Her Ladyship over and above the call of duty.

I'll never forget that.

I have also very publicly gone fundament over mammary at The Hunt Museum and landed on my back, winded, on the floor surrounded by my sarcastically indifferent "friends" from the Sale supporters.

I'll never forget that, either!

Hi all, I'm Carl from the Ribble Valley, born in Altrincham too many years ago! First match at HR 1972, ST holder for about last 9 years and now attend with my daughter Emma who deafens most around us in the West Stand just behind the home dugout, so also keeps the lads awake!

Frequent reader and dip in now and then with a comment or two.

No matter what happens this season, we will still be there shouting them on!

Carl

Hi
Read the board for some time before picking up courage. Cornish with shared loyalties - Pirates and Sharks - explains my sometimes strange attire at home games. Oh yes and living in West Yorks.

Living in West Yorkshire? Well, we all have our cross to bear.

I worked in Hipperholme for a while back in the '70s and I still haven't recovered from the shock!

Thanks, Joe (see post below).

If you can tell me how to pronounce it, mazudy, I'll add your name!

But seriously, folks, do not click on any of the links in the above until The Major has had a look at it - I've emailed him. It is the first and only post from that name and may well be poisonous.

I've had a look at some of the links and they're definitely dubious - so I've removed the post. If it's a genuine poster then they can always re-post.

Sorry, wouldn't normally do that, but better safe than sorry .......

First time poster ... I'm an ex-player and currently a Vet. Father played for Sale and England and I grew up at Heywood Road ... Moved to the SW of France (Biarritz a few years ago - bringing a small group of supporters to the game in a few weeks and looking forward to welcoming as many of you that are travelling here) and have recently sold my business. I recently set up a rugby related site that I hope becomes very popular. It's a joint venture between myself and a few ex Internationals and we would like it to become a real behind the scenes information site. Still not happy with everything but at least the stats should be up by the middle of next week.

Here is the latest review / preview from David Flatman. What are your thoughts about including your and other clubs match reviews / reviews (when available) from Rugby Network also? Like it or not?

[rugbypigs.com]

I'll only ever post on here if I think the article is relevant to Sale Sharks ... Is that OK?

Hello,

I'm Gareth, I'm new on here. Former Alty boy now living in Leeds with my girlfriend. Used to go to Heywood Road regularly but was abroad throughout the Stockport years, I went to the odd game. Only visited Salford a handful of times due to location and the nightmare I had getting back, plus my football commitments.

Giving up my season ticket at Manchester City next season so I can concentrate on Sale as I am completely and utterly fed up with football and everything that goes with it!
