Next Season....

....it looks like we will be playing London Irish, after they were beaten easily by Worcester tonight:

There are also rumours that they have financial woes and are unofficially up for sale.

..and they will have the parachute payment, so we will decide we cannot compete with that, let our best players go to save money due to the lack of investment, and drift further into oblivion. Complete shambles.

COME ON LEEDS.
We've been through it all together.

Irish were a good 40% better than us last year yet they are finding it tough in the prem.

We need cash for a sustainable push not just one season and hope. If Barnsley can find a billionaire owner anyone can.....!

And the prospect of ring-fencing the Premiership seems to be on the agenda again. Supported by London Irish among others.

Well they would wouldn't they?

Which ever team come down is immetrial. As has been said we will not go up this or next season. To save further monies we will get rid of the highest earners and whilst we have an excellent academy it cannot make up for the loss of top quality players.
I do not want to be pessimistic but realistic, we will become a Richmond with either semi pros or non paying players

It does not surprise me that "ring fencing" of the Premiership has come up again, supported by the Exiles. For me, what would make me happier, would be if the play offs was brought back, simply so that we could take our revenge on the Exiles next season!

But perhaps we should not write off Irish yet. They are playing better than Northants and have also got their cheque book out:

Looks like the last throw of the dice. Is a flanker and 9 gonna change it that much? I think LI back row was pretty good with coman and cowan etc.
Northampton will get a couple more wins and be safe I reckon.

Speaking of next season...have we had any further rumblings from the club on expected funding / squad size / ambition for next year?

Dave Dock's new 3 year plan will be in to year 2, with the promise of finding 7/8m to fund a promotion charge. When should we expect to hear news on players re-signing for next season or recruitment plans (usually takes a good 6 months to get the players in you need!)

Short answer is no, we must be planning to peak in year 3 of Dave the Dock's plan!

London Irish have their work cut out. 10 points down on their next relegation rival at just past the half way mark of the season. It will take a miracle of some magnitude. Remember those above them will still be picking up points on the way to the end of the season!

As for Dave Doc's plan, do pigs really fly?

Or to put it another way, we are well into year 4 of the Yorkshire 'experiment', and we haven't attracted anybody to invest in the club. Any novelty the name change may have had, has well gone, we are worse off now than we were as LEEDS.

Fair point, Hax. The other side of the "Yorkshire" change was to widen the Academy net to trawl in all the talent in the county: sadly, we have no representatives in the England U20's this season, though Geech has always said that it will be 7 years before the benefits are seen.
