It's a different game. I have been the twickenham 7s a few times and it's a great watch. Very few players do both 7s and the full game to the highest level.

Different sport entirely now, looking at the 1st world cup for 7's dallaligio, Dawson, Rodber would never happen now, Carling getting held up over the line etc at Middlesex 7'S was a great season opener back in the day,

Have enjoyed my trips to HQ for the middlesex 7's bit of banter between fans at a BBQ in car park and more often than not being joined by players for a beer or 2 afterwards, good times

But complete change now world series has some top guys who have devastating pace and power and is run with some big sponsorship worldwide but in the xv a side sport most guys would struggle and visa versa,

Alex Gray was to me the most exciting signing we had a couple of seasons ago and while the NFL was beckoning watching the you tube clips etc i thought we had signed the missing piece to our devastating back line, might have been the odd injury but didn't really do it for me in the YC shirt,

have been to Emirates 7's and recommend it for a coach trip and beers not a patch on the old days though but then again what is?

Clearly the 7's has been a bad thing for the womens' game. For the men it is an irrelevance. A nice day out but no real influence on the top flight 15 a side game.

What about in developing countries? Resources "diverted" to the 7's game could detract from growing the full game?

Yes it could be seen as a detracting influence but then again sevens give some countries with no chance for a considerable time at fifteens, to progress and gain some rugby headlines ie Kenya, Spain, Portugal!

I watched the final of the Prem 7s at Saints yesterday on Tv. Saracens beat Wasps but i recognised none of the players who all appeared to be Academy players.

7s used to be either an end of season warm down or a pre-season warm up. Having once organised a pre-season U16 10s comp I remember the hoops I had to jump through with the RFU in order for the comp to be covered by the infamous non-insurance the RFU gave to clubs.

Used to as an open side flanker love 7s but 10s gives the pack a game as well.

It's a really bad thing as it highlights how attractive the game would be with less players on the pitch.
