Too many injuries in key positions IMHO

From t'offy

Will Britton is set to make his Yorkshire Carnegie debut after being named in Chris Stirling’s starting line up to face Richmond at Emerald Headingley on Sunday, kick off 3pm.

Britton, who joined Yorkshire Carnegie this week from Gallagher Premiership side Bath Rugby, replaces captain Richard Mayhew, who will miss this week’s game with an ankle injury.

Richard Beck moves from the second row to the back row whilst Pete Lucock will take over the captain’s armband. There is one other enforced absence with Joe Buckle ruled out with a head injury.

Charlie Gibbings, who came off the bench last week at Hartpury will make his home debut after joining from Exmouth in the summer. With Buckle ruled out Academy product Adam Brown has been named on the bench.

Brown impressed in the pre-season win at Darlington Mowden Park having agreed his first contract with the club this season. Previously he played at Harrogate and attended St Peters in York. He came into the Junior Academy relatively late but performed to an outstanding level on a consistent basis through the Academy League last season. He is yet to make his first team debut.

Academy scrum half Sam Wolstenholme could make his Greene King IPA Championship debut off the bench having previously played in Cup competitions for Yorkshire Carnegie, he replaces Oli Fox on the bench.

As well as Mayhew and Buckle, Stirling is also currently without Marc Thomas (ankle), Harry Newborn (shin), Mike Myerscough (shoulder), Louis Brown (shoulder) and Jack Higginson (hamstring).

The team in full is:

15. Chris Elder 14. George Watkins 13. Andy Forsyth 12. Pete Lucock (c) 11. Dan Moor 10. Brendan Cope 9. JB Bruzulier 1. Rowan Jenkins 2. Charlie Gibbings 3. Jake Ilnicki 4. Will Britton 5. Matt Smith 6. Josh Bainbridge 7. Richard Beck 8. Dan Temm

Replacements: 16. Adam Brown 17. James Thraves 18. Ewan McQuillin 19. Elliott Ward 20. Lewis Wilson 21. Sam Wolstenholme 22. Tom Bullough
