Rumours starting that Horacio Agulla might be signing for Tigers, he is a full-back / wing / centre currently at Brive.

A very good player - one of the stars ofthe 2007 world cup for "that Pumas team" - would be very happy with the signing.

I have always rated him. Saw him quite a lot when he was playing for Dax.

He does not seem to be rated highly at Brive but then no-one except Vosloo, Classens and wonder of wonders, Jamie Noon seem to be rated highly at Brive

I think he would be be good signing if he ever sees the ball

Further proof if any were needed that the board is inept, fancy signing an Argentinean, when did one of them ever play well for us.....

apart from
Castro
Marcos
Lucas
Moreno

... but will it be a short-term signing until the Tri-Nations becomes Quad-Nations?

Wouldn't exactly be 'short-term' even if he did decide to move on when the Quad-Nations begins in 2012.

He'd still be here for the entire 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons.

Depends on your definition of 'short-term'. 2 years is a reasonable length of contract I agree but as I've said on other threads I'd rather have players that are going to stick around for longer as it's the building of a consistent squad that's proven successful previously.

I don't see how the Tri-Nations is going to force players away from the European clubs? I'm fairly sure Butch James did it for Bath.

Did Butch have to miss any games for Bath?

The we may not lose Ayerza either as was feared before...

I could understand the want to go home if there were, say an Argentine Super 14-15-16 side but otherwie it seems pointless. SANZAR players don't play in the tri-nations due to union policies rather than practicality issues.

This year the tri-nations in held over 9 weeks between the 10th July until 11th September.

In 2012, as there will be 4 teams (allowing for all teams to play every weekend) it will be possible to shorten it and host it over only 6 weeks, however this would mean no rest weeks for the teams and would mean long flights every week.

It will be interesting to see how they schedule it. I can still see it being held over at least 8 weeks.

If the length was similar to this year, Marcus and Lucas would miss the first 2-4 weeks of the GP season (given rest time)

Well I can't see Argentina having a professional league which will have the funds to pay Marcus enough to consider relocating any time soon.

Especially with the amount of money a prop of his quality could demand in France.

He always seems well settled here though... a strange comment to make unless, as i suspect, he means later in his career.
