RFU

Madeye Captain eh!
Quote:
Leicester Tigers flanker Lewis Moody will captain England for the first time in the RBS 6 Nations against France in Paris after Steve Borthwick failed to recover from his knee injury. Saracens lock Borthwick had a scan on his left knee yesterday but has not sufficiently recovered from the knock taken against Scotland at Murrayfield last Saturday. Leicester Tigers lock Louis Deacon is promoted from the replacements bench to the starting 15 and his place is taken by Tom Palmer (Stade Francais).

and Louis starts!!

I'm not surprised. You can't carry on with an injury like that.He has to rest it for his own sake, apart from anything else. Many congratulations to Madeye.

(Sm57) WOO! HOO!

Mind you might have gone for Lawes over Palmer but I guess Palmer has the inside and was probably planned all along accordingly!

Anyway go on Madeye!

Congratulations Louis, go and show you can make a difference and get the team playing well.

Cannot understand why last week when YBY came on Martin did not put him at 9 and move care to the wing, if it did not work he could always have moved YBY to the wing.

As he plays with Flood at Tigers the understanding between them may just have made the difference.

Surprised Moody got the nod over Easter who I would have preferred as Captain (Sm159)

Thanks to God we will not have to put up with Borthwick again for this 80 minute battle against France!.

Why o Why is he anywhere near the Test Team let alone Captain.

With him and Payne still being picked, it does no favours to Martin Johnson reputation as a selector.

It strikes me he has caught the same afflication as the Fool and Arseton when it comes to picking England players.

I guess Johnno saw Care's defence out wide against the Irish, John!

Moody is dropped one week and skipper the next!

At least we know that this week MJ believes his skipper is in the team on merit.

Experiment clearly failed last week. Still harsh in Haskell.

Both Palmer and Haskell are very tired, I think they are Stade Francais most used players. I think its a culture thing, if the French think they need a rest they make it known whereas the English grit their teeth and keep going. Why the coaches and fitness staff don't realise is a mystery although to be fair with at times 19 players out it has been last man standing.

Tom Palmer however has been,in the opinion of many, Stade Francais best player this season.

At least with Moody their might be some sign of life and enthuiasm in the English team

I think its some sort of 6 nations quota on experience number 7's and captains as the captain one week and dropped the next happened to martin williams and basically the reverse happened to moody.

I've not long learnt of the news, my toil excludes me from civilisation occasionally and quite frankly I'm very pleasantly surprised. I would have chosen Lewis as stand in skipper and perhaps a longer tenure for a variety of reasons including an ability to express himself well in spoken English.
