Brown; May, Te'o, Farrell, Daly; Ford, Care; Marler, Hartley, Cole, Launchbury, Lawes, Itoje, Haskell, Hughes.

Replacements: George, M Vunipola, Sinckler, Wood, Clifford, Youngs, Slade, Nowell

Nowell and Watson would have been above May in my selection.

Also wonder when we are going try out a different Tight-head than Dan Cole, need 2 or 3 picks in each position for a squad that has a chance of winning a World Cup. Or is Eddie waiting for the Summer tour when hopefully Dan will be with the Lions

Nowell on the wing and Farrell, Teo and Daly in the midfield.

This game is going to go one of 3 ways. One sided, a hammering or a record score. I was on of those who thought Italy should be brought in years before they were. Now it's time to move on again now and bring in promotion and relegation, if The 6Ns won't do it voluntarily, World Rugby should act, at this juncture I will take a little pause to laugh my head off.

Wholeheartedly disagree. Italy need a bottom up rebuilding, O'Shea has recognised that and is hopefully the man to do it. It'll take 3-5years for such a massive overhaul to come to fruition, and sacking Italy from the 6Ns would only hinder that development.

Other Points;

Georgia really aren't better. They basically only play worse teams, Italy always play very good teams.

Georgia would be awful for fans, at the moment its a maximum 2hr flight, not 7hrs plus to a freezing Tbilisi in February.

People forget that in the last 10 years Scotland (2015, 2012, 2007) and France (2013) have come last, Wales not far off it (and infact did in 2003). Could you imagine a 6Ns without those teams??

This is what everyone's talking about - it was thought up in Waikato:

I remembered the Chiefs doing it, so was surprised that they appeared to have no idea what to do. I would have thought that a novel tactic used fairly extensively in one of the worlds biggest club rugby tournaments would at least have been on the list of 'this isn't likely to happen but if it does...' things discussed in team meetings. Just annoyed me that the blindingly obvious (to me) solution was pick up and drive ad nauseum if there's no one immediately in front of the tackle. It may not be the most fun way to play the game, but it's effective if the opposition insist on playing silly @#$%&. You just need to take your time with it and make sure you have support just in case they decide to ruck at the next tackle. Clearly the half time talk helped, as doing some of the above and looking for the offload did seem to help solve the issue.

There is a broader thing here though about - when is it a ruck and when is it a tackle. England have very frequently just done the tackle then focused on getting players in the defensive line, and Wales have been doing the same. Based on this that line could have come a step or two forward as there was no offside line. However, I suspect the refs would, and probably have, penalised for offside in that scenario. It's only because the Italians had made a point of it and the ref was stopping to think 'is it a ruck or not?' that they were allowed to go offside (which is utterly ridiculous). I don't blame the Italians (or Chiefs) for pushing the rules, the World Rugby really should have sorted this out once the loophole was spotted. The Italian block the pass thing is very visible and less subtle, but using no ruck to move the defensive line forward a yard or two could be more effective and more detrimental to the game - and I suspect a few teams will think about it now.

Very churlish & ungracious of England & EJ to make a public fuss. Do that behind closed doors.

England won, despite being dreadful - smile, congratulate the opposition for ruffling the feathers & move on.

It does highlight on field leadership & solving problems on the hoof, something Hartley is supposed to be good at, why else is he in the team?, certainly not on playing form.

Farrell was just Farrell, an average day a th office as so many of his caps have been.

Ironic as in the week he became a Demi-God fo reaching 50 caps(more than his limited talent deserve IMO).

He is judged by a different set of criteria to ALL other rugby players in the world.

Well done Italy & their coaches for being different & making a difference.

I enjoyed the game and thought the Italian ploy made a fun game out of a potential mullering

Tigers will have to be alert to this now, and I preffered that it was England who suffered the embarrassment on our behalf or the celebratory whinging hereabouts would have been depressing

Demonstrates the lack of nous and leadership within the on field "leaders" for England. Hartley,Farrell and Haskell are not the sharpest tools in the box and yesterday really highlighted it, The All Blacks will be lapping it up.

Yesterday just highlights how basically dumb a run of the mill England pathway player is. I've noted it over the years and the braindead attitude ( from age grade Coaches down) pervades. As long as the RFU coach has their Mini or Mitsubishi pickup with roses adorned then all you'll get is Eddie acting the puffing loon as the others take the Mick of the ongoing senseless idiocy the RFU espouse.
The England Captain and his Senior cohorts don't know the laws of Rugby?
Something seriously wrong don't you think.
Eddie didn't have a clue either, but then, RFU choose an Aussie who typically don't have a clue.

I am being serious here honestly - the more I see of England's captain I worry that he's taken too many knocks to the head!
He seems to struggle to put 2 sentences together!!
I hope I'm wrong btw

I wouldn't have asked for my money back. I would be screaming at the s.h. to stick the ball up his jumper and run through the gaps. Pleased I wasn't the only one embarrassed at hearing two seasoned internationals, including the capt. saying they didn't know the rules. The problem for Italy, though, good a tactic as it is, is that it is a keep the score down tactic, not a match winning one, they still lost 6 trys to 2. MOM, for my money was Poite.
