Can anyone explain why Ford was so keen to return to Tigers? Obviously not just the money and I can see why players are not particularly happy at Bath, but we're not exactly offering him an armchair behind our powder puff pack. I'd have thought the Fords would feel more at home with Saleford where they speak the lingo and the irascible Dimes (who would put off most human beings) appears to be on the way out.

He likes Tigers , and he is best friends with Ben Youngs. (To the point where Mike Ford tried very hard to get him to Bath before he signed a new deal).

dimes is on the board at Sale I doubt he will be off anytime soon, always despite being a northerner George has more of a connection to Tigers than Sale.

And why wouldn't he want to come back to such a beautiful city too with such positive and enthusiastic fans?

Not one of Tigers greatest hours re loyalty etc. Feel sorry for Burns and admired what he tried to do behind a poor performing pack. He has nothing to be ashamed of while at Tigers unlike some higher up in the organisation. Good luck to him and thanks. I doubt we'll react to him in the same way as we did to Ford on his return to Welford road in opposition colours.

I agree with Rushden. Freddie has been treated shabbily. As you say, not the club's finest hour.

Tigers aren't just experiencing new low on the pitch. This is an act of treachery against a lad who has never taken a backwards step in our shirt.

A new low.

I find myself liking Freddie more and more. Its FAR too early for him to go to our Sumerset retirement home.

For Ford, riggtly or wrongly i suspect in his mind he was effectively forced to leave (to grt 1st dbs etc). And now Cockers is gone, the path back is wide open.

I'm getting more and more jaundiced with Tigers. Some in the Board I suspect have this vision that is/was not shared by others. How anyone can see Ford as a shrewd investment, let alone MOC, just does my head in.

Somebody made the Ford/Freddie decision. Who? We don't even know what our coaching set up is going to be next season.

Re: Freddie confirms
Tiggs 08 March, 2017 21:05
I think that some are putting words into Freddie's mouth.
Whilst Freddie is a little disappointed, and wanted to stay and see out his contract, I don't see that Freddie thinks the club "shafted" him, acted against his best interests, and so on.

Presumably the recruitment group of Cohen, Glynn, Mauger and at the time Cockerill made the decision. They are the only ones in a position to make it.

What with this and Cockers sacking (being summoned to the meeting by txt etc) think the #TigersFamily hashtag has had its day.

Re: Freddie confirms

Tigers family is a joke now , the old traditions of loyalty to the players has gone, so I suspect has the loyalty, perceived or actual, to the supporters, members and ordinary shareholders has been replaced with chasing the corporate dollar and the sugar daddy. Some may say it is inevitable and they may be correct , but it leaves a nasty taste in the mouth and for the first time in over twenty years I genuinely feel that the ravens have left the tower.

The day the music died?

Maybe, but cheer up .. wrist slitting is not for Tigers

"Can anyone explain why Ford was so keen to return to Tigers? Obviously not just the money and I can see why players are not particularly happy at Bath"

Can someone explain - Whilst under Mike Ford there was unrest but under current regime it is all roses at present - and forgive me in my ignorance - but I seem to recall it was your club reported in total turmoil - reports of training ground bust ups between coaches and player revolt. The proverb which fits here I think is "People in Glass Houses should not throw stones!!!!" Mr PAINE.

The true reason why Ford wanted to come to Tigers (who are a great club) is two fold - the first as pointed out by AW - he is best friends with Ben Youngs - Second and this worries me more - his reaction to his dad being sacked and his refusal to accept the totally justified reasoning for the replacement - he knew given our rivalry that the move to yourselves would be a hammer blow for Bath.

I would add your club has not covered itself in glory by the way you have handled Freddie - he has been nothing but loyal to you and this deal was clearly done behind his back... He has also stated it was Bath - Namely Todd Blackadder and Bruce Craig who alerted him to your boards offer...Poor to say the least...Still we are happy to have our son back.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

The Ford Burns Williams saga is not Tigers "Finest Hour"

On its own in isolation - it may not have attracted such strong critical comment

But on top of all the other issues around the club & its repeat humiliations on the pitch - it smacks of the Tigers management completely losing the plot and dropping its standards

......or, if one didn't have a particular agenda to ram down throats, it could be described as just the sort of 'hard nosed, no place for sentiment in top level sport' approach that is exactly what the same person continues to insist should be the basis of our dealings with the incumbent coaching team.

Re: Freddie confirms
IDLETIMES 10 March, 2017 14:33
He was shafted if the deal was done before he was told about it. Like Cockers sacking, I don't suppose we will get the truth until some writes a book about it. All ways round it's been a bit of a stinking season, just hope lessons have been learned
