Where's me ginormous thread title gone?

Surely such bulk can only enhance the site?

Never mind the content, this is the era of headlines!

A new coach obviously, and that after lots of hard work in the environment bubble .. Eddie has lost two consecutive games and is clearly struggling so defeat to the Irish will bring on wholly justified calls for his head on a spike on the bridge at Richmond

It was very annoying to try and use on a phone, hence the change.

I have to confess to a little mischievousness Steve, a tongue in the cheek moment akin to putting drawing pins in the hammers of the school piano

You were right to change it

breakdown

"The breakdown has cost England the Six Nations"

No @#$%& Sherlock!!

But seriously there are some good bits of analysis there!

You can have anything in life, if you will sacrifice everything else for it

“You could argue that English rugby can take this as an opportunity to learn,” said the Bath director of rugby, Todd Blackadder, a former New Zealand flanker who coached Richie McCaw, “and a lot of good may come out of it for the game here. One of Richie’s great qualities was that he adjusted and adapted to the way the breakdown was refereed so that changes in the law made no difference to his effectiveness.

Others would make a different argument about how Ritchie managed to 'adapt'...

Much changed team, have to say it's a fair set of changes.
England team to face Ireland: Watson; May, Joseph, Te'o, Daly; Farrell, Wigglesworth; M Vunipola, Hartley, Sinckler, Itoje, Kruis, Robshaw, Haskell, Simmonds.
Replacements: George, Marler, Cole, Launchbury, Armand, Care, Ford, Brown

You reckon? Looks panicked, demonstrating a serious failure to understand where the problems are.

Slowest pair of wing forwards around. No use 'standing strong' at the breakdown if you don't get there first. And I'll take the Irish scrum to sort out Sinckler straightaway. Won't be an easy day for Watson either. Looking like a St Patrick's Day massacre.

Sinckler will be fine - for 15 minutes while he runs around like a kid. And then he's going to tire - and he'll have to scrummage - hard - and he'll get smashed.

I quite like both Haskell and Robshaw - but you can't have both of them in the same side if you want to compete at the breakdown.

Dropping Ford is just nonsense - no 9/10 combination in the world could function with the sort of ball the English pack have been providing the last few weeks. If they don't sort out the breakdown - and I can't see how they will - what's next dropping Wigglesworth and Farrell. At least Care is back where he can have most effect - from the bench.

How does that prop get picked in the centres?

How many times will Watson drop the ball, run up a blind alley, trip over, clobber someone high under the sort of pressure the Irish are going to rain down on him?

And what the hell has Launchbury done?

Desperate times, still Eddie has to justify his contract extension.

It is all a bit late to start experimenting now.

What is the plan?

I suspect the plan is take this one on the chin and then try and rebuild over the summer.
