Our poor lineout lost us that game!

When will we get our lineout sorted?

There were 3 or 4 lineouts in the 2nd half which Wasps managed to steal.

After such an outstanding effort, shame that something we can/should practice until it's improved let us down.

The lineout has been poor for 2 to 3 seasons now,why it hasn't been fixed I'll never know! A coach to sort it should be our absolute top priority!

Man on twitter points out our calls are literally putting the numbers of fingers in the air. We put 2 fingers we go front, 4 fingers middle, flat hand back. Screen shots and all.

We were missing Spencer, Williams did well but if he is the only option then it makes it easier to pick us off. I agree that it cost us, Wasps could clearance kick to touch with impunity.

Denton and Kalamafoni are line out options too, particularly Denton.

Lineout started really well I thought.

Agree SK but it still means we are light on an option. And Wasps can cover each. That said, it was poor in that period

Tom had a problem with his shoulder when it started going awry, should have come off sooner. Thought it was good till then.

Completely agree the line out and other turnovers were painful, Wasps lethal off turnover ball.

Been very impressed with Mike Williams though. People on this forum have been suggesting him as a 2nd row for a couple of seasons.

My thoughts at the time of the red card was that the best thing Leicester could have done was to substitute a winger for a second row after the red card and keep it an even contest up front. I felt as the game went on having only one second row gave Wasps a way of stealing ball and getting back into a winning position. The scrum penalty 4 minutes from the end could have been prevented had you had a full pack.

Certainly should have done this when Lineout went missing in the last 30, very interesting that first throw Jimmy took went to Faol on the 5m line, not capable of thinking of this on the pitch?

Plus we had an unused forward on the bench for the last five minutes when 7 against 8 was inevitably showing.

Are there any top lineout coaches out there available? I recall, for example, that London Irish used to have a top-notch lineout (back when ours was decent, but they had an amazing success rate). I guess that was coached by people who moved on to bigger and better things?

Nick Kennedy was their lineout guru, I think. Not sure where he is now though..?

Ended up as DOR or CEO at the Not Nots didn't he? Departed towards end of last season? Don't remember his arrival at somewhere else being announced? So, good call. Anyone got his number?

I thought Bakewell was the solution to this and perhaps still is.

I think the criticism a bit harsh to be honest.

Yes it's what potentially lost us the game but we were a forward short for all of the second half. Factor in fitness (7 were doing the job of 8) together with relative new personnel in the lineout and what do we expect? And we were always told that Kitchener was the lineout specialist who ain't fit. Give the lads a chance.

thumbs down

Though you might argue that we should have replaced a back early on.
