Ricoh Arena: Coventry City hope to open talks with Wasps to extend tenancy

Quote:
Coventry City say they are hoping to come to a deal with Wasps to extend their tenancy at the Ricoh Arena. City's agreement to play at the stadium comes to an end after this season. "Without agreement of a stadium to play at next season, the club's place in the Football League is at risk," the League One club said on its website. The Sky Blues' statement comes a day before a Court of Appeal decision on whether a judicial review should take place into the sale of the stadium. City's owners Sisu say Coventry City Council undervalued the stadium by £27m when it was sold to Premiership rugby union club Wasps in 2014.

Hmmm!

Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen.

If you're a Cov city resident, hmmm indeed to hear (have the feeling confirmed ??) that they sold it on for a pittance.

Bit like many utilities in the 1980s...

Little more complex than that. It was half owned by a charity that would never under any circumstances have sold their share to Sisu (Cov City owners) who had been incredibly poor tenants. Taking the P as they thought the Charity and Council had no alternative tenants.

Interesting to see the press release from CCFC was the day before the court case. Which Sisu have just lost (deliberations were a lot quicker than a RFU panel!), so I presume CCFC knew the writing was on the wall. CCFC now have months to try and sort a deal out with Wasps or try and find somewhere else to play.

I'm sure everyone at Wasps want CCFC to keep playing there as it makes sense all round. CCFC options are limited though as the owner of Coventry RFC has flatly refused to enter into discussions with SISU (CCFC's owners) and I'm not sure why Wasps would want to deal them either given the ongoing pointless court case.

To be fair BG this is only a multi million pound years long case, clearly perhaps tweeting during a routine disciplinary hearing requires more consultation!
