O/T Leicester Autism Charity
07 November, 2018 14:22
I have recently become involved with a small local charity that supports children and teenagers with autism in the Leicester area.

They run a number of day trips throughout the year, holiday clubs and operate a one evening a week youth club for teenagers (staffed by trained support workers) with autism while supporting parents with advice surrounding this condition.

I must declare a personal interest as my two sons have just started attending the youth club. They are thoroughly enjoying it and are learning to socialise and get along and cooperate with their piers and the staff alike (which for people with autism doesn’t come naturally and has to be learnt).

The charity (Jigsaw) used to get grants from various local government public bodies but these funds have all been cut so that it now relies solely on fund raising events, donations and payment from parents for some of the services (which only partly cover the overall costs).

I know the youth club costs around £5,000 p.a. to run (for the specialist staff and the rent of the rooms) so any donation would be gratefully received.
I do appreciate and respect that we all have different priorities and I wouldn’t be asking if it wasn’t absolutely necessary. If you would like to make a donation (any amount would be great) please send a me private message for details.

Here's the web site address. Jigsaw is part of this bigger organisation.
