Surprised Nottingham let him go, though no doubt the deal was done before they beat Exeter Chiefs on Saturday, launching their own bid for Premiership Rugby in the process.

Time to give those pink shirts they wore against Pests a couple of seasons ago another run out methinks.

Parra Set for Sarries
Mon, 22 Mar 2010 11:00:20
Petrus Du Plessis has today completed a deal with Premiership side Saracens.

The 27-year-old South African is widely regarded as the outstanding tighthead prop in the Championship and is set to play a huge part in Nottingham's play-off campaign.

Du Plessis was set to join the Guinness Premiership outfit next season but, following injuries to Carlos Nieto and Tom Mercey, he joins them with immediate effect.

He is the third man this season to be picked up by a Premiership side and Director of Rugby Glenn Delaney believes it illustrates the quality of the second tier.

He said: "Parra has worked very hard this year and he deserves this opportunity. He has had a fantastic season with us and as a result he has been picked up by a Premiership club.

"He will obviously be missed here but it's a really great chance for him and we wish him all the best.

"We have had guys like Tim Taylor and Tim Molenaar and now Parra picked up by Premiership clubs and it's testament to the quality of the Championship.

"We are playing some great rugby here, which is why guys like that get given these chances.

"Last season he was playing for Sedgley Park who ended up getting relegated but he has come on such a long way with us and will now make that next step.

"He was really an untapped talent and being here at Nottingham has brought him on massively."

Woohoo! Here comes the cavalry!

Hopefully this and firmer spring pitches should shore up our challenge for eternal Premiership glory!

Lets see whether Petrus can make the step up to the Premiership, his first nest will be Carl Hayman and John Golding!!

Seems like a good signing and can hopefully do what Richard Skuse hasn't...

Good news indeed, although I guess it will take him time to get up to the intensity of Premiership rugby compared to div 1.

Apparently he's been the standout prop in the Championship..

Thankfully our other recruits from the lower league this year have performed admirably, hopefully our latest signing will too

Biggles 256 stirring up the 'BS' again.

Please, please, please do not rise to his bait and turn this thread into another LDN-SAFFA stadium issue.

You can never have too many props ...

Richard Skuse does seem to have struggled since his shoulder injury- I guess it must be one of the worse things for a prop to suffer.

Lets see whether he can replace Skuse as the first choice tighthead prop this season. Lets hope he sures up the scrum and allows us a fighting chance at the set piece starting with Newcastle

Interesting signing. Curious to see how much game time he gets this season. Obviously brought in quick time to shore up our pants scrum so hopefully he will get stuck in straight away. Out of the pan and into the fire against Newcastle! Good luck PDP! No penalties please!
