We so need to say a proper goodbye to him. Marvellous man. And never seems to look any older - has he discovered the elixir of youth?

No but you should see the state of his portrait in his attic.

From what I saw on the pitch at the warm up yesterday we might have yet another member of coaching staff.

Good luck to him whatever he does.

Always gave his all.

A truly great man and a great player. Everyone has to go at some point, as a Saracens fan I feel honoured thet he gave us some excellent years' rugby and that we as a club could get him a champions medal. Also very relieved that he didn't go out as a crock! Good luck, Hugh, in whatever you do, keep in touch.

What a wonderful player & servant to the club. And to cap it off, a massive gent off the pitch.

Thank you HUGE and the very best of luck in your retirement.

Absolute legend who will be missed. I no longer will hear the sound of the entire crowd shouting out HUUUUUGH whenever he scores a try.

BTW has any one know where on the internet where I might be able to see the video of the infamous drop goal. I was unfortunate to have seen the match in question. I remember reading the report in the paper the next day and i always kept thinking that it was a typo! hahaha.

Great man.
And the way our back rowers are dropping like flies, may well be needed.

Good Luck Big Red.

A true Sarries hero, almost up there in the Richard Hill class. He seems just as good today as he ever was. If Melck is out, then there must be a good chance of George Kruis moving to the back row and Hugh being bench cover for the second row.
We'd be none the weaker for it either.

What a great player and servant to the club. IMHO he was deserving of some England caps.

My younger boy was Mascot for the Biarritz game and he came out after the game, as club captain, in his suit to have a photo taken with him ( there was a mix up over his photo being taken with a different player before the game which didn't happen ) so he wouldn't go home disappointed without a photo. What a true gent.
I said to him 'What a great drop goal' to which he replied I saw it was on , fancied my chances , and gave it a go.

Priceless moment - I wish him the best in his retirement.

An absolute legend of the modern era.

My wife spent years really disliking him - no real reason, just one of those players that wound her up to watch, and drove her mad (we all have them!!). Then she met him at a business function a few days before the 2010 AP final and made herself known as a Tigers fan, had some good banter, and came home saying what a great bloke he was!
