Sorry can't do the linky, but there is a brilliant article on Mark in today's Guardian.

A very astute analysis of the man, his approach and style-with very valuable insights by Ventner and Griffiths.

if you do not read anything else this season make sure you read this article

In some respects I wish we would not give these interviews as others will surely follow our club philosophy....Although its harder to copy and will take years as it did with us.

Nice of it to be finally recognised that what we developed as team culture actually has some merits and that those that laughed at us earlier are not laughing so much now.

It is a good read, as was Matthew Syed in the Times Times

I suspect that you have to keep raising that bar and to show people where you were is not such a secret it's what you plan to do next

Great article - not so sure it did take years though, WoW. I recall BV saying in 2009 that they weren't doing rebuilding - they were looking to win the Championship in the first year - and how nearly they did a few months later. 'Something special...' had started by then and the Championship was won the next year. Since then it has built and built and it will take something for others to match.

It will be really interesting to see how London Irish get on - it appears they are adopting some of BV's process - new unspoilt coaches (Kennedy, Skivington, Danaher and Hodgson), no-blame culture.

I think that in 2009 there wasn't really as many teams competing as there are now. We pulled in some decent SA players who didn't play in the England team, were focussed and gave us better results than perhaps we might have. We also had a few players in their last season Nieto, Glen who performed brilliantly

Saints sort of imploded at the end of the season and screwed up the home semi-final, which helped as well.

Park team from London
Just a park team from London
European Champions
Just European champions
