....The 2005 ashes? I can't think of anything since where he have had a rollercoaster series against a seemingly unbeatable team.

Yeah, good shout. Dominant world champions against an improving team. Although then we were at home and expected to compete, here we're away and everyone wrote us off (including me)

Most people would have taken the drawn series when the team flew out. I feel it was a very creditable performance. Yes Lions could have won but they can all be proud of the result

I asked Steve Borthwick as he was wandering from the plane to passport control at Heathrow yesterday, if he would have taken the draw if he'd been offered it when he left a few weeks prior.

He said 'we wanted the win', which is what I guess we all want to hear. But he did say the boys did exceptionally well: clearly a proud man.
