ASM Clermont away

Is anyone going, if so can anyone advise where to stay in Clermont, and where in the ground to look to be sitting? I was packed in among the ASM supporters last visit, up the road at St Etienne, Brilliant day among the most amazingly passionate crowd.

Clermont is not over-endowed with hotels. The best of a not-particularly-inspiring bunch is the Mercure Centre Jaude, right on Clermont's main square, Place de Jaude, and on the edge of the old town. Tram to the stadium runs through the square.

Because it's the best hotel in town you'd be sharing it with Austin Healey and the rest of the crew. Whether this is a good thing I leave to you to decide!

Last time we went we got tickets for the Tribune Auvergne, close to pitch-side, where we were surrounded by delightful Clermont supporters and a couple of embarrassing d|ckheads in black-and-red who were behaving like chavball supporters and trying to goad the natives.

Sadly we're not going this time, too close to Christmas for all the hassle.

We stayed at the Hotel du Puys which is on Place Delile - Stadium about 20 mins walk but tram is much closer. Very near to the beautiful old town and cathedral and a short walk to the Place de Jaune. It also has parking.

I seem to remember King Zak got stuck in the lift though so maybe........

We're spending Christmas in the sun this year so sadly we can't make the trip either as its too close but Clermont is DEFINITELY worth doing

Campanile booked. Going by train, it's a tad longer than flying, but so easy, just sitting there and watching the world go by.

When do tickets go on sale, and will they be on the offy or SSA or anything?

DG, thanks for resurrecting that report! It makes interesting reading when compared to the Final last May; it really shows how far we have progressed! As for the lift...........
