Can we sign Michael Hooper

It would break the celery cap - but we do that already as many tell us! What a performance today. The guy is just awesome. I'd have no doubt he would suit the 'Sarries ethos'.

A fair replacement for the sadly retired Will.

Fair replacement? Probably more like writing off your Ford Fiesta and the insurance company replacing it with an Aston Martin!

Shields would be better and he was available. Now signed for Wasps.

Good article on Shields, thanks. Wasps capturing another big star - for the future as well (although, not fully confirmed yet). At least we were in the mix to sign him also (despite being European Champions and still losing out :/

According to the press we were in the mix as they seem to report to be the case for every big name who becomes available. What some of the press still haven't realised is that we've become pretty good at developing our own big name players, so don't need to sign everybody that comes on the market.

Haha, very true

Of course if we had signed him there would have been lots of shouts of "How can they afford him and stay within the salary cap?" and these voices seem to be silent with regard to asking Wasps the same question...

Hardly surprising though. Shields is also rumoured to be coming on 350k a season, so not particularly big money compared to what we've heard and seen rumoured about other players in the league (not pointed at you guys).

Pretty much in-line with most of the Senior England players seem to command.
