Clermont team enforced changes

I know it's a bit early but I was wondering what the rules are regarding players who have to be replaced for injuries and their eleigibility for European matches. Clermont have both first choice number 10s out with long term injuries, and two number 9s out as well. They have Luke McAlister joining them as a medical joker, and apparently he is available in the Champions Cup, but according to their roster they have only Parra as a 9 and an unknown 18 year old as a 10 cover. If they are forced to get more players in, would they be able to play in europe?

On the EPCR site, CA have 41 players registered. Luke McAlister is not included

Rule 3.5 states:

Each club may register up to three additional players during the pool stage, each to replace a player previously registered. If a club registers three additional players, one such player must be a front row player. Additional players must have a three-month contract with the club and must not have played for another club in the tournament. Additional player registrations must be submitted by 12 noon (GMT) on the Tuesday before the match. De-registered players may be re-registered (in place of the relevant additional players) during the pool stage.

So from my reading, I would say they could add McAlister plus one other back if required.

We will add McAlister (for Lopez) and Charly Trussardi (a scrum half youngster who will replace Cassang) who is performing extremly well.

Laidlaw and Fernandez are also out of action along with Zirakashvili, Simutoga, Chouly, Iturria, Lopez, Cassang and Nakaitaci.

Our infirmary is full like it has never been before in my opinion.
You will meet a "B" team of Clermont.

Just one thing: Luke Mc Alister is allowed to play in C Cup before he hasn't played one minute with Toulon.
Cheers

Le marseillais - sorry to read this. Is there any perceived increase in injuries across the Top 14? And if so any thoughts as to the cause? There seems to be a significant increase in England this year with many feeling the new laws responsible as they are seen to generate more high impact collisions.

Oh yes, definitely.
There are more and more injuries in our Top 14, and there are more and more serious.
The game has changed a lot. It is not an avoidance game any more, but only percussion, crash...and injuries.
It is now boring for the fans, and dangerous for the players.

C'est vrai! Trussardi est une jeune étoile winking smiley

The sodding autocorrect replaced the indefinite feminine article with 'unemployment'. I am NOT Phillip Hammond!

McAlister broke his hand at the weekend according to the Evening Standard so that's another fly half out for Clermont.

Cassang, Laidlaw, Fernandez, Lopez, McAlister.

Trussardi and Parra are the only one available.

Iturria, Zirakashvili, Nakaitaci, Uhila are still out also.

Can't see us doing something on this back to back.

Remy a horrible injury list especially to half backs. Ours is pretty bad

Schalk Brits, Maro Itoje, Dom Day, Mike Rhodes, Billy Vunipola, Duncan Tyalor and Liam Williams that we know of.

Think both teams would be happy with home wins and no more injuries
