I doubt this is because of one season's results, but the consequence of not achieving the board's stated aims in terms of playing results ever since that year of success. In general I don't think that boards, who don't train, don't play and don't appreciate the constant improvement going on all around them, are the best people to know what's going wrong, but in this case they may have hit the correct nail on the head.

I don't normally agree to sacking/firing directors of rugby, but to be fair Jim's time was up there it's a shame he had to be asked to leave rather than realising it's time to move on.... I wish Jim all the best for his future

the fact that the fire alarm went off at the Gardens on 55 minutes at the weekend was too much to ignore

Saint have concede 30 points more than Benetton

Our game against them could either be a 0-0 draw or a 50-50 draw the way things are going! Good luck to JM but the writing was on the wall.

I've heard that Tom Wood has reluctantly offered to take on the role of Head Coach himself.
"We'll cross that bridge if we come to it. If I was asked to do it for the benefit of the team, I'd consider it very carefully and probably front up."

Were you at yesterdays game JO'G? a fair stream of spectators leaving from 50 minutes on. They've had problems beyond that game obviously but I'd be hesitant about using that as a yard-stick for failure.

As far as i saw people started leaving about 5 minutes from the end.
Might have been to do with trying to get out of the ground before the chaos and that it was FREEZING

As with all of these things, I think one has to consider the players' roles as well. Whilst the coach(es) might not be doing so well with communication or getting their tactics right or even getting on that well with the team, the players also have to take some responsibility for their performances on the pitch, and that applies as much to our own boys as well as those currently in the Saints squad. They are well versed in what is required to play well and to try to win, despite the perceived quality of the coaching. Once on the field, they have to take charge and try to make it work regardless of the coaching. IMO.

I have seen Stuart Lancaster mentioned as a possible candidate as well. Out of the frying pan, into the............ frying pan?

Mike Ford would be perfect in my humble opinion....
