All over the news that Maro will be fit in time for the six nations.

Can’t think of an appropriate word that conveys an ironic “great”

It's got "too early" writ large all over it. Sod what England think we need to look after our assets as it's going to be a tough season.

I'm sorry but if Maro is fit he plays for England, it's an honour to represent your country, and with a world cup on the horizon Maro needs to be playing to cement his place in the England squad as they have a lot of talented 2nd rowers currently

Test rugby is a far sterner test than league rugby.
IMO a player injured for a considerable time should play league matches before returning to the International scene.

Maro has plenty of time to prove himself regardless of other talented players.

Me neither. The best club teams would give most national teams a run for their money and beat quite a few of the weaker ones, imho.

Clermont Vs Italy?

Sarries vs Springboks? 😉

I don't know if the stats are still true but the International game used to have quite a bit more ball in play time than League (20%+)

I'd agree that generally, top-tier Internationals are a step up. Ofc there are exceptions to the rule including obvious ones like a top League club playing a tier two or three International club but generally I do think the game is intenser and quicker at the very top.

What's interesting is the dilution of the International team "brands" (sorry) by teams like the Pumas/Jaguares and Scotland/Glasgow where the concentration of talent in one League club makes it an International team in all but name so maybe that strengthens the idea that League games are as competitive or the theory I guess would be Glasgow running away with the Guiness Pro14?

Now you're starting to understand why Tigers supporters used to get so "frustrated" a decade or so ago when we provided players for the invitational circus. We had England playing YBY when our medics wouldn't pass him fit to play for Tigers!!

Johnno's various suspensions always ended at just the right time for him to play for England!

It's a double edged honour to have your players play for England. You need the top internationals in your team to be good enough to win pots but also enough depth to your squad to cover when they're away or damaged by England who seem to treat players as the rest of us would treat a holiday resort hire car!

Seeing double Yorkie. I seem to remember comments from 'the management' about Sarries emulating Tigers' success. Well they have, but with that comes the downsides. Unfortunately you probably can't have one without the other.(Sm111)

I treat hire cars with kid gloves, as I always do with other people's property!

Nevertheless your point is well made. I for one fully appreciate Tigers' sacrifices in the past, as I hope others appreciate Sarries' sacrifices now. Sooner or later the pendulum will swing again and it will be someone else's turn (maybe Tigers again).

It will always be thus until WE HAVE FEWER BLOODY INTERNATIONAL MATCHES!!!

Heard that Eddie is taking up to 70 players on tour to South Africa.

England have an additional Autumn International next season, now 4 instead of 3 plus Eddie is getting all the extra 'training' weeks he wants.

Georgia want to join the 6 nations and have had favourable soundings.

I don't think the powers to be will be thinking of less Internationals (money).
