Crikey!
Looks as if the Jed McCrory bid has not worked out and the SRU are in pole position.

Local paper report

And in other Scottish news, Wuss lock, 6ft9in 20stone Christian Scotland-Williamson, is heading to NRL

Is he big enough?

Wouldn’t read too much into that headline. Cannot see how a SRU bid would ever be allowed to be successful by the RFU.

If any bid happens, it will be the McCrory one.

Apologies - fat fingers. There must be an NRL in USA but I meant NFL, natch.

Alan, a couple of stats. from our thread on the subject may assist.........
Firstly, from my colleague JP,
“The average guard, tackle, or center in the NFL is 6-foot-5, 312 pounds. Of the 159 players who have started at least four games as an offensive lineman only 23 weigh less than 300 pounds and 39 weigh at least 320 pounds.”

Secondly, some conversions....
And for easy comparison, he’s 6’ 8”, (2.03m) and 271 lbs. (123kgs)

It says in the article he's going to play tight-end not offensive lineman so they will not want him to be over 300 pounds as he'll need to be athletic enough to run routes and catch passes, he'll mainly be blocking linebackers, who weigh the same or slightly less as he does now, or smaller safeties when they blitz.

For comparison he's bigger then Hayden Smith (1.98m, 116kg), who left us and played tight-end for the Jets, and Alex Grey (1.98m, 105kg) the England 7's player who's a tight-end on the Falcons practice squad (Group of players that haven't played in the NFL that train with the team to develop but can't play in games unless they are signed to the main roster).
