London Double Header Scrapped?

The fella who sits next to me has access to the Fez Lounge where they have pre game presentations.
Apparently last Saturday a senior person from the commercial team said the Double Header will almost certainly not take place next season.

That would be brilliant! Has anyone else heard anything?

Ticketmaster are showing events up until the end of the year and the Double Header is not mentioned. Not sure that means anything though, perhaps not everything is finalised as yet.

Doubt Irish going down helped much...

Nowadays it can hardly be the London Double header, more the “Anyone who wants to play” double header. Quins never fancied it much so now just leaves us. Interesting if it does go , would help justify a bit the recent ticket price hikes!

If they are going to have a "London" Double header they would be better having it with the Championship teams , at least then you would have London Irish , London Scottish , Richmond & Ealing Trailfinders .

Much more "London"

However I expect it would have to be at a venue smaller than Twickenham.

The presence of disinterested fans makes the Double Header dysfunctional.

Clubs staging 'trophy' games seems a better plan; though I note that fans of clubs further away from London are not that happy.

This comes up every summer. I remember from Edward Griffiths time that he said if we play 2 home games away from Allianz Park (double header & Wembley/London) then we will have spare games to play the 2 home semis if we got through.

So although many don’t like it it’s here to stay for the time being

But if there’s no one else wanting to play it, there’s no single header let alone a double. Although, Premiership rugby probably make it worth a club’s while to participate in the double header.

If it were to be scrapped and we did have a home semi final, wouldn’t we be better off moving it to a bigger ground anyway? A semi final is a bigger event than the double header and we could do the usual give away of tickets to get bums on seats.

I'm not sure we want to play a home game at AzP before mid September because of when the athletics season finishes - so if we don't do the double header, we need to just play away games the first two or three weeks of the season?

But then people would ask why we are giving away home advantage for such an important game.

Saracens have so many international players these days that Twickenham seems a second home to them....

I believe that the double header is definitely taking place next season, again its a love or hate situation, I expect Saints and Bristol Could be the other two teams next season, not that it's that important anyway.

Can anyone really say that watching Quins get beaten by the promoted team over the road from home ISN'T fun?

Especially if your brother and his family are Quins season ticket holders!
