Agree

Also I don't remember any TMO referrals. Is that a first in a final.

I agree it’s was a well reffed game. The TMO was chatting to Barnes all the way though the match, confirming calls (such as the try that was held up over our try line), you could hear them both on ref link. It seemed to work really well and did not stop the flow of the game

Classy act that

But Schalk should never have been sent off for a first offence.

Other than that I thought Mr Barnes was first rate.Wish he reffed us more often!

I thought if Schalk’s offence was a yellow then Chiefs player penalised one metre from his line was a definite one!
The only gripe I had with WB!

It was a definite yellow card both Schalk Brits and Jackson Wray were clearly infringing, just a shame Barnes saw Brits as the offender

Anyway Wayne Barnes yet again Excels himself and proves why he is still the best referee in England

But the point clearly remains that if our offence 5m out was so serious then surely one a few minutes later on the other try line simply has to be one. Our penalty count yesterday was remarkably low, making the yellow even tougher to take.
But love the gesture with the signed card!

Excellent match by Wayne Barnes; and he doesn't talk to much (unlike another 1st class referee) just enough so the players know where they stand.

Thank you Wayne.

I was particularly impressed with WB when Maitland knocked on during Exeter's opening salvoes.

Not only did he spot that the ball hit a Chief's player before being played by an offside Sarries player, he immediately explained his decision succinctly.

That's the way to discourage dissent. The ref is on the ball, knows the laws and will explain his decision. Excellent! The antithesis of Roy Maybank winking smiley
