some things I might suggest to make the Olympic bar a bit better
1) having a walkway almost roped off - so people trying to get around can do so quickly without disturbing people standing around socialising

2) A dozen or so old-school pub picnic tables coralling off fixes areas to stand and drink

3) If we have a band - have it at one end

4) Have a raffle with one or two players coming in to draw the prizes - 45 minutes after the game - they did this at Glasgow . The money raised to go towards the cost of the band / more tables & chairs

5) limit the time to 1 hour after the game finishes - so people hang around because its not too long

Some decent real ale, in pints and properly pulled / served might help too!

I don't use the Olympic Bar any more because I don't like being told I have to pay for everything on card. I prefer to use cash wherever possible (obviously, if the transaction is large I have no problem with it) and whilst this might be deeply old fashioned, I fail to see why I should have to use my card for a small transaction and resent not having the choice. Therefore, I simply don't spend any money on food and drink in the bar - I go outside.Perhaps this change to payment methods has contributed to the bar being under-used or it could be that it is just not that hospitable a space.

Villagesarrie I feel the same as you,but having spoken to one of the staff at one of the franchise's a couple of weeks ago, all of Allianz Park will be cashless within the next couple of months. That said, I can't see them expecting payment for one cup of tea or a match day programme by card.
The Olympic bar may be empty and down on numbers because....wait for it...they sell c*** beer.Just a thought.

Or it could be because the beer is sh*te. Used to be pretty full when they had Sarries ale. When that used to run out and only Green King IPA was left the Olympic bar used to clear out then

There should be at least two places for OAPs. My votes are for Waldo and Bboonie - that way, exotic liqueurs and decent cider should be in ample supply!

The outside bars are more popular but weather dictates how well they do
I think a couple of pubs & local rugby clubs do a lot better since seat reclassification too!
Regarding the beer situation if it aint broke dont fix it smiling smiley

Cashless is the new cash. When I'm queuing for my flat white and croissant, I can't help notice that everyone before me pays with plastic or mobile phone.

What I've really got against cashless is that if it operates when I'm abroad there's all sorts of extra charges on top.

Not if you get the 'right' bit of plastic - we have one from Halifax, but others are available.

Interestingly TT I'm off to the Spirit Show later today on a research mission - should be plenty of exotic liqueurs there (Sm11) ( unless I've got it wrong and actually its an event hosted by Derek Acorah and Doris Stokes ! )

As another who missed out I will certainly do that S1971. I presume they will post the reps online now they have told everyone individually how they got on.

Which explains why children of the last millenium (i.e. old f@rts) may be more comfortable with cash...and why not?

I'm not really into conspiracy theories but I am amazed that 3 days after the elected reps were announced......we still haven't seen the number of votes cast for each candidate!!!
All seems a bit strange

seems that the whole thing was a total waste of time; unsurprisingly the Saracens supporter base at large simply voted for the few individuals they already knew and now we have the normal / usual suspects representing our views.

Of course this now means the club can simply make any changes it wants to as long as it 'consults' the individuals it already knows will be receptive to its decisions

Thanks for the support. Written off already before even the first meeting. I'm enough of a realist to know our impact may be minimal however at least I'm prepared to try.

I too thought it was unusually dismal from JO'G - I can't remember who I voted for, so don't know if they were elected, but I'm sure the panel will give it a try.

But we'll all give it a chance and not be miserable and write it off as a non-starter right?

Happy to be proved wrong - but remembering 5 years ago when I could just bump into EG around the ground and get a straight answer to and issue I had.

Frankly I think the 'good old days' of interaction with the club are long gone. Having a group of individuals who will act as my representatives means that actually my opinion on its own isn't of interest.

A question for the first forum meeting......

The club have made at least two public declarations already that AZP is/will be cashless. You can understand therefore my profound frustration to finally get to the front of a huge queue in the Olympic bar to pay for our beer and then be told that it was CASH ONLY! There were no signs up to say so and I only had a few quid in cash.

So which is it? Cash or no cash and specifically from when?
