Thanks Innings, excellent as always.

Enjoyable report. Brought a smile to my face which is more than Saturday's twitter feed from the club was doing.

Thanks Innings.

The antithesis of a panegyric hagiography:

Billy V - "He's not the Messiah, He's a very naughty boy!"

Thanks Innings - I don't recall the 1963 5N season! Please provide details smiling smiley

In those days, when a player was forced into touch with the ball, his side took the lineout. Both Wales and Scotland took this to extremes, threw in short, moved a yard upfield and the oposition forced the carrier into touch. The tactic was repeated throughout this game, and the result was 111, not actually a thousand, lineouts. There were also 38 scrums. Apparently there was not one minute it in total of open play.

David Watkins, the Wales 10, touched the ball five times in the entire game, not once by receiving a pass from his 9. Wales won 6-0, a penalty and a drop goal from the touchline.

The law was changed after this game.

Splendid! I seem to remember that that winter was perishing. It must have been a joy to be at the game!

It snowed all week before the game, and the snow lying around the cleared pitch led to huge snowball fights between rival supporters. It was indeed brass monkeys weather.
