Retro shirts

Just an idea but why doesn't the Bath rugby shop sell retro style shirts, like the hooped shirts the club used to have back in the 80's early 90's. As i'm sure they would sale like hot cakes.

Probably becuase they'd sell 10 to 1 more successfully than the exisiting GP team shirt, and they'd end up paying a lot to the trustees.

Ebay usually has fairly regular listings of Retro Shirts and JMS Rugby in Bath has some quite good "Replicas" also:

A Barnesy testimonial commemorative shirt would be good. What was his first Bath shirt?

Bod is right. They'd sell far too well, and there would be mountains of the annually coveted 'new' shirts left unsold for several seasons afterwards, thus lessening the value of the shirt-sponsor deal. For all of these reasons, I'd be in favour of a body outside of the club, such as the RFU, doing a line of 'classic' club shirts for all of England's big clubs, with some of the proceeds going straight back to the clubs to be spent on their grass-roots, kids, academies, etc. Thus rugby money goes to where it's needed.

Alternatively, Bath supporters could form a boycott pact not to spend any money on Bath shirts that are not (a) hooped or (b) predominantly blue. That way we'd get nice home-shirts every season!

Maybe someone on 'ere' could see if the rights to the classic shirt are available? Maybe someone could organse having a few made and we could be the talk of the town?

Hang on a minute... This all sounds familiar?

Seems a long time a go you sold those shirts, Stuart. Suspect we'd all need bigger sizes now.

What is the chance of a re-issue Stuart?

Lewis Moody

You cannot be serious. Lewis Moody in a Bath shirt? Don't be ridiculous. Shows what I know... Barely any point in writing a preview for this man. The most WYSIWYG player of our generation. He'll throw himself into situations he shouldn't. He'll win ball he has no right to win. He'll wind up opposition, irritate referees and probably give a few penalties away, but he will be a key pillar in guiding Bath to whatever glory is ahead. Can't wait to see it.

Lewis Moody, my adopted player 2010/2011 season (Photo to follow as soon as I get one with him wearing a decent shirt).

Well, with some of you guys expanding your horizons is there anyone out there who might want to re-cycle (for a fair price of course) a medium size Stuart-type retro shirt which may be ready to go to a very supportive and caring new home!(Sm143)

here is a link from our rugby league friends...the cup final shirts dont seem to have hurt 'new' shirt sales...even with their main sponsor being Mecca Bingo!!! (Sm6)

Quins have been doing it 'officially' for a few years now, so they obviously don't think it's too damaging to sales.

I saw quite a few of them around town and at the Rec the other week.
