Pointing at ball, meerkat style SH play not recommended - but seems to be the bread and butter of AP rugby so what can be expected?

Good luck to the boys in white but I'm not expecting much!

Wish I could join you in that optimism BFJ, but a 20+ point hiding is a very strong possibility. This is a once-in-a generation opportunity for Wales to absolutely walk all over England, and I think they will know that and be more fired up than ever to deliver. Stuffing England at HQ would be as close to making up for missing out on a place in the World Cup final as it's possible to get.

Youngs cost England the game, he had 2 goes at it, England like I've been saying have used Phillips slow delivery to target the ball carrier behind the gain line, Youngs does the same for England putting pressure on the carrier.

Re: England v Wales

Walsh is a disgrace - 6 major decisions in Wales's favour - including two at the end -
Cuthbert deliberately knocked ball into touch - where was the penalty?
Where was penalty advantage at the end?

Knock on by Wales in tackle earlier not picked up, Wales go upfield and given penalty.

Wales will take it obviously, but boy did they benefit from those decisions, and in the end they cost England the match.

That all said it was compelling.

Once again, how anonymous was Ashton? Top scorer last Championship to this.

Haven't watched it back, but did Walsh call 'advantage over' before Strettle's injury time effort*? If Walsh didn't, the penalty should have been given and the game would have continued.

*Which, incidentally, I feel he just about got down.

Great game of rugby. Well played Wales but England have to be pretty encouraged by that.

The major upside is that we now know that Owen Farrell is indeed the man.

However, Ben Youngs has some serious thinking to do 'cos he cost England the game and Matt Stevens should be hanging his head as well.

... IMHO, of course.

The subs cost us the game: SOS is a liability in both the scrum and the loose - he just gives away penalties; Youngs' form has nose-dived, Flood suffered terribly in comparison to Farrell; Downson's presence in the squad is a mystery that requires Arthur C Clarke to investigate; Lawes lost the ball which lead to the Welsh try and Brown failed to draw his man before passing to to Strettle at the death. And I thought Walsh had awarded us a penalty before Strettle attempt and didn't hear him call advantage over.

Still, no sign of England being "Smashed" and they should have won the game.

Well done to Wales.
Great effort by England.
Youngs hopeless, Ashton invisible.

Walsh, no real comment thought he controlled the game the same way as he always does ..........

Wales's quick with - in the form of Scot Williams's opportunism and speed to the bounce, gave them a victory they deserved.

It could, of course, have been different. Penalties do more than change the score - they have an impact on how the game is played: had Mr Walsh penalised Wales for hanging on in the period between 65 & 72 minutes (when he had about 4 occasions to do so), it is unlikely that the situation which led to the try would have occurred.

That and the fact that the equalising penalty came from a Welsh knock-on.

As I say, wales deserved to win - buy, boy they were lucky!

As for Mr Walsh - a bizarre appointment for a match like this.

nobody took Warb's legs at the lineout - Robshaw took his shoulders and tipped him a little, and his supporters left him to it.

French relatives felt that maul at the end should have ended in a penalty try, they thought an established maul that was moving forwards and 2m out being brought down, is a clear try obstructed illegally. We all though that Strettle grounded the ball, though I wasn't convinced that the evidence was actually strong enough to give - none of us thought that Flood would have gotten it.

The only decision I was really annoyed about was the Barritt tackle early on, when he did exactly the same that Warb.s did later on to save a try. Though I have a feeling that Walsh was actually penalising Cole for being in support and not involved in the tackle, and therefore competing for the ball perfectly legally.

TBH any close result would have been fair, win for either team, or a draw all fair reflections of the match.
Cracking game though.

Oh please. That penalty at the lineout was a total joke. Falatau and Lydiate just let go of Warburton and he dropped to the ground as a result. Should never have been a penalty, let alone anything else. Watch it again.

It's because you act like one Bod.

England did very well today in neutering a fine Welsh backline and showing real attacking menace across the park. Geoff Parling put in a monstrous shift as did both Manu and Barritt. Strettle looked a real threat but both Ashton and Foden look toothless (egos reined in by management and on a full-on sulkathon?)

Vracking game as I predicted {wrongly again) that Wales would win at a canter!

I agree that our subs were probably at the wrong time and never got up to pace of the game!

Youngs form is awful and he crabs across the field at least two paces and then the fly half gets man and ball and no space. He is IMHO much worse than Sheer Class!

We ahve to find an English Scrum half who above all can pass!! Any Names anyone?

Also Stecens is a penalty magnet as his scrumming is not of International class and his work in the loose is costing us games and field position.

Also who is our right whinger sorry meant winger? Ashton is totally ineffective and needs to go looking for the ball and stand BEHIND the ball carrier so he can receive a pass!

Hartleys scrumming is weak too although I thought Cole had one of his best games and is really looking like an inetrnational tight head. Not so sure about Corbs although he did a lot around the field.

My Star England forward has to be Morgan!! He has got real go forward, can pass, run and tackle and carry the ball safely. Much better than Lawes whose turn over was very poor!

Bath MUST sign Morgan as he is the kiddy and will only get better!!!! You know it makes sence BC, NB and SIM!

Umm... Lee Dickson? I thought he was excellent today. Perhaps we need to find a second English SH who can pass, so we have an effective sub. Either that or just leave the man on the field for the full 80.
