Curious stuff, given that he was recalled to warm the bench last night! Are games being played between Mr Lansdown and Mr Craig, I wonder? This is from the WDP
Bristol's promotion bid received a significant boost yesterday when Bath owner Bruce Craig assured them that Josh Ovens would be available for the whole of the Championship play-offs.
The 22-year-old flanker has been one of Bristol's outstanding players this season, but has missed their last two games after being recalled by parent club Bath.
Ovens, who had been playing regular rugby for Bristol, came off the bench for the final minute of Bath's victory over Newcastle and was an unused replacement in the derby defeat against Gloucester.
But he is back in the frame to play for Bristol against Doncaster tomorrow – and Bath owner Craig has given concerned Bristol bosses his word that he will not be recalled during the play-offs.
Head coach Liam Middleton said: "It's still a week-to-week thing with Josh, but we've been given assurance from Bruce Craig that he won't be called back in the play-offs.
"He has given us that verbal assurance that Josh won't go back"
