Hope he finds a berth somewhere. I always rated him, but he had shocking luck with injuries.

Yes, Ryan deserves a break and a decent run in a side, though may be in the Championship?

He is currently injured and I believe has another year on his contract. Despite much disquiet about Nicky Robinson's mincing at fly half for most of the season Dai Young seemed loathed to give Ryan any game time. Even in January and February when Robinson's dodgy goal kicking cost us match after match.

However when he did finally get a chance at 12 he played really well. It is such a shame that a player with a real point to prove got injured at just the wrong time. Hopefully he will be ready and raring to go by September.

As much as I liked the guy personally I don't think Ryan Davis is a 'quality' player

He was showing real promise for us and then he got tackled pretty much off the ball and spent about a year in recovery and then had to step in for Butch before he was ready and struggled then was let go. Felt really sorry for him then and doesn't seem to be having much better luck now.(Sm56)

He had a whole season at Exeter and this is his second at Wasps. Plenty of chances to prove himself. Meehan took him 'under his wing' at Bath (whilst Olly was having his sabbatical at Glaws), but he didn't progress.

Sorry if you are his Mum btw!!(Sm14)

He played pretty well at Exeter and many there were sad to see him go when they brought in Mieres. As said when playing at 12 he does float out some cracking passes and he is a pretty nuggety runner too for a fairly small player. Out of all the players that have played at 12 for Wasps this season he was probably the most impressive.

Also I think most Wasps fans probably don't think he was given a fair crack of the whip for most of the season. With Flutey leaving for Japan he should get more game time next season.

I remember Ryan getting a start for us a few years ago as a youngester when we demolished Worcester at The Rec on the first game of the season (2007 I think?). He showed real promise but crumbled under the pressure when he knew he was going to be starting constantly.

Unlucky? Yes. Solid player? Yes. But Tom Heathcote was put in the same situation and really stepped up. Just saying...

Tricky, Ryan was a fantastic talent as a youngster and was in my opinion better than Tom at this stage. The point I would like to make is that Ryan was targeted a lot because of his talent and picked up some terrible injuries along the way, Tom took a huge hit and some more against Sale and you could see his confidence take a hit there and then? It was no surprise and good management that he was not included in the next game against Wasps. We need to look after him for the future and manage him properly or he could end up the same as Ryan.

Yep, that was the one GOOMS. I was also in the open stand that day and made a cracker of a catch from a Bath touch finder! As the adulation of the crowd died down I looked down to realise that in the process I'd kicked over my full pint of cider! A heavy price to pay for a short moment of glory!

Also seem to remember that was Banners' first start on the wing and was very unlucky not to join Cuthbert on the scoresheet.

I agree Sam about Heathcote taking a knock and it effecting his confidence, but I just feel that he's responded better to being thrown in at the deep end than Ryan did after Butch's injury. Ryan had just come back off a long injury I know and was put straight in, but I believe that Tom has had his fair share of injuries as well. Ryan had also previously played for the 1stXV at that time and Tom hadn't really.

I watched a recent Wasps game when Ryan played 12 and I thought he was excellent. Fingers crossed he gets fit and given a decent run in the side.

Well the Rugby Paper has said he has been given the option to leave. A bit of a shame if he goes as he never had much of a chance and got injured when he did. From what I have seen he looks more comfortable in the centres rather than at 10. I assume Dai Young views him as a specialist 10. If he goes he could be off to Newcastle or maybe one of the better Championship clubs.

Given a option to leave is a insult to a player,so he'll go.
