Would seem likely - it's just the attack coach needed now - maybe that's why Smith turned down England!?!!

Neal Hatley is an excellant scrum coach and with GG would provide a potent forwards coaching team. Could be an inspired appointment, loads of time at the coal face as a prop and is an up and coming coach.

Bri -Grewy needs to get some coaching courses under his belt, one for the future maybe.

I forgot to add the GG + NH appointment was mentioned several days ago in the "Player News/Rumours/Injuries etc" thread.

Errrhm.
Think Grewy has already got quite a few coaching certificates hanging on his wall ..........................
that's not to say that he is ready willing and able to take on Forwards Coach at Bath. He ain't that stupid or easily flattered.

Yes this rumour has been running for the past few weeks. Seems all but signed.

Hatley should make a good forwards coach, as well as knowing how to manage the Academy boys (he's done a great job at Irish in that regard)

Who said anything about him displacing Grewcock?

Thought he was the main man with the Academy, along with JP and Butler.

No one said anything about him displacing Grewcock. First team coaches mix with the academy lads and a man of Hatley's experience in that regard will be a big benefit.

OOOO did you back track there ballsout?
Or did you not express yourself clearly enough - a habit I have on ERE at times!

"managing the Academy" indicates just that, not popping in and out for 5 mins once a week!

I didn't say he would manage the academy. I said he knows how to manage academy lads. SIM, Brad and Haagy have had to manage a number of them this season, integrating them into the first team when necessary etc

Beefy (Neal Hatley) has been the academy manager at Irish, not Forwards coach or scrum coach.

He is V-E-R-Y well thought of at Irish and IF he leaves will be sorely missed.

I have no way of knowing if he would make a good forwards coach but what I can tell you is that he is a reall top bloke. I think if he comes to you it will be your gain and our loss

Being a nice bloke but a Academy manager but not a forwards coach is not really what we are looking for.we have a lot of nice blokes already,we have a Academy manager and plenty of retiring forwards to step in if we want a unproven guy.

You miss the point bri, he is a coach who is highly rated and is ready to move up. You claim he is unproven yet you would throw in ex Bath players who have not coached or obtained level 4 coaching certificates. Be realistic and less one eyed. Many including you have moaned about the front row this season and if NH comes to Bath we will have a prop who has proved himself both as player and a coach and is highly regarded for his specilist front row coaching skills. Be positive like when you wore them trousers!!

IF it's Gold + ANOther forwards coach; does ANOther need to have that much experience? Given the Gold is a specialist forwards coach.
I'd have thought the ideal (assuming Gold is nailed on) would be Gold to come in as HC/DOR with specific charge of the forwards, an inexperienced forwards coach to flourish under Gold's tutilage, and an experienced attack/backs coach who can stand his own; and be a candidate, alongside Brad, to replace Gold in a few years time if required.

I was going to ask if Hatley was a Saffa, OEC. Pretty sure he picked up a cap for England at one point, too, back in the day when LI had a plethora of Saffas on board.

I think Hatley's only played (and captained) the Saxons. It was when we beat the NZ Maori at Twickenham.

Also interesting to note that he is the most capped player in the Premiership ever

I believe Passion for the club is there but team spirit is at an all time low.Bringing in a Championship coach wont work,we have to many strong characters.Bringing in the likes of Vesty,HIpkiss,Moody and Donald who clearly came for the money or pension should I say has affect the whole squad.
These player were wrong for our club, while we can't blame the players for coming we can the ones that brought them in.
Who ever we bring in must united the whole club and this will be his biggest challenge.
I am hoping for a win on Saturday but expecting a loss,I just hope it's not to heavy, some of the effort by some don't deserve it.
As a squad we are better than some of the results this season have suggested.Let's hope the Coach is named shortly after the game,I expect next week and players, supporters and the whole club buy into what he wants and we move steadily forward,we deserve it.

"Bringing in a Championship coach wont work,we have to many strong characters."

Can't see the sense in that logic at all Bri. I agree a strong Head coach is needed to set the direction and to keep everyone on track but I can't see why a good up & coming coach who has earned his spurs and been successful with a championship side shouldn't continue to be successful as part of the Bath coaching team.

Cobblers, Bri. Vesty brought in as much needed cover for a number of positions; Hipkiss because we badly needed an outside centre; Moody to bring a bit of dog. I believe all three of them came for the right reasons, not just because they're being paid. Beaver is different in as much that as I've said on other threads, I just don't think he could afford not to.
